Captura de pantalla 2020-05-01 a las 14.02.38

  1. Full Sidekick OSC support (NuiLite depreciated). Road to universal NornsMother (TTMother???.. :stuck_out_tongue:).
  2. New NornsMother look…
  3. More visuals
  4. A lot of bug fixes.
  5. “<–Main Menu” function now works (exits to SK menu)

Update via “Check for updates” on sidekick menu.
Source code files available on Github

This is a big change release so I need feedback.

I think ableton link is causing some issues with link enabled organelle patches.

just want to say thanks to oxbown and thetechnobear for putting together norns mom and sidekick to run puredata. I’ve figured out how to connect all the norns controls to automatonism via mother. Sidekick in VNC has been really helpful. I’m already running out of cpu. Will try midi out next.

This is how to get MIDI working in sidekick puredata, for anyone searching:

Hi, i have been out of the loop for sometime!
I have updated both orac and motrher and none of my patches on mother react to midi notes…orac does ?
Any ideas? I tried aconnect 20:0 129:0 etc… :frowning:
Odly enough the lemur template i made with the same organelle assignments work (eg i can launch the aux page and control control pots 1-4)
I just the midi notes…

did you try connecting via terminal and using aconnect -l to make sure the 20:0 and 129:0 are the correct values to use?

Thanks for awesome work. At the moment I use ORAC with beatstep pro.
I’m having trouble getting MIDI recognized by a korg minilogue :frowning:

Some questions:

  1. to switch between patches? i need press the combination but1 + but2 + but3? If so, a more
comfortable method would be nice maybe by pressing the AUX botton.

  2. On Norns there is a cleaning function for all slots (But1 + CLEAR). Is the same expected on ORAC?

Thanks! (:

it seems that the Main Menu function to return to the SK menu does not work with all patches. the only boredom is to press the three keys each time. no solution???

This is a Sidekick limitation, sorry! Same on changing between patches…

I highly recommend using amidiauto, it’s really useful for making Midi automated connections. Linux is not Midi userfriendly, sometimes needs some work.
But you can make all the interconnections between PureData and “YourDevice” using aconnect commands.

Sidekick supports a message to deactivate the patch , this could be used by norns mother to ‘gohome’ in same way as organelle

“Gohome” on Nornsmother is functional, but if the patch does not has this function the only way to exit to SK menu is the 3 button method.

Pd: there is an OSC method to open SK menu, but needs an external connection.

So I tried unsuccessfully to establish a MIDI connection between my Korg Minilogue and Puredata.
I tried this method:

aconnect 20:1 129:1
aconnect 129:0 20:1

But no worked. I try to connect the minilogue over usb, problem is, minilogue has two midi devices in one client. the first one is the physical in and out ports of the machine, the second is for midi over usb.

On blokas.io’s forum i find a workaround which should use an udev rule specifying the vendor and product id but on Fates I can’t find an udev folder so I don’t know how to apply it.
This is the rule: (i used lsusb for find this details)

ACTION==“add”, SUBSYSTEM==“usb”, ATTR{idVendor}==“0944”, ATTR{idProduct}==“012c”, RUN+="/usr/bin/aconnect minilogue:1"
ACTION==“add”, SUBSYSTEM==“usb”, ATTR{idVendor}==“0944”, ATTR{idProduct}==“012c”, RUN+="/usr/bin/aconnect minilogue:1"

at this point i was wondering how to handle these exceptions on fates and if it were possible to specify them somehow on the post-patch.sh file.

Could someone help me out? It seems really impossible to connect the Minilogue to Puredata and I don’t understand where I’m wrong.

this is my midi config

Thanks

I managed to connect simply by exchanging the parameters.

aconnect 20:1 129:0
aconnect 129:1 20:1

Here instead a video of the KOTO application for Norns Mothers sequenced by Malekko Voltage Block + Ornament & Crime Captain Midi.

thank you all

Thanks. You can install it safely. @Oxbown and @TheTechnobear id an incredible job with ORAC / SK / NM.

There will be thousands of new combinations and we hope that the patchstorage community will always remain so active

KOTO is truly incredible. You can listen to another recording here as a couple with a morphagene.

I hope you will let us know your impressions

Yeah, this sounds fantastic. I installed ORAC on my FATES, but eventually sort of faded off of it and back to norns. I couldn’t really figure out the method of adding patches to ORAC. Norns Mother looks nice, because that way I can just add a script and get running. Gonna try Koto out soon.

I posted a polyphonic granular synthesizer patch from the abunch archive that I adapted for use with norns-mother. Enjoy!
