i think that could be cool.
with a button cycling you through each automationism abstraction in the patch that would publish the UI to the 3knobs & buttons

martin!
thanks for the heavy lifting on the knobs/buttons man
very nice
I have been having some weird behavior with realvnc not delivering all the files when i push them to norns – it doesn’t want to push the .pd_linux externals as first so i have to hand drop them it but that seems like the only issue

here is a FFT resonator based on FFTease ā€œresidencyā€

Press Main Norns button to aquire the data then tweak !
Needs a live signal

Hiya been testing this for a while.
My setup:
Automatonism partch controlled by launchcontrol faders as cc and buttons for note input.
Sequencing from Ipad via compasflamenco usb host.
I need to learn how to show automatonism params in the the norns ,and how to use pages.
Most of my automatonism files have 16 controls, so that would be 4 pages of four controls each.
Yikes!

Here is one of the automatonism patches i have been using apologies my pd skills are not very good…but you get an idea…

Cheers

cc controls are 32-47 on ch 1

Some of the controls move the faders on the automatonism display, some are controlled by send messages

that would be crazy good!

I have the following urls saved in Cyberduck. You type them in via the quick connection box.

For the Norns directories
sftp://we@norns.local/home/we/dust

or

For the Orac script directories
sftp://we@norns.local/home/we/sidekick/patches

Use the username ā€œweā€ and password ā€œsleepā€ when logging into norns via Cyberduck the first time.

Ok time to call it a day.

I think i might end up using this fates just for pure data patches.

The Rozeta plugins + this is nuts!

Night night

here’s another random glitchy type improv one. All the knobs sort of interact
turn knob 1 and 2 first to get things moving, then 3 and 4 to play with pitches and slow down the patch

Ok i went through Martin Brinkman’s self generating patches and renamed the pd to main.pd and put into individual folders so fates will play them. They play fine.

none of these have fates knobs assigned (look at the pd doc to assign yourself) but they all play fine - wouldn’t mind a crash course on how to assign the 4 knobs in pd so i can control some of these patches.

Here they are martin brinkman self generationg.zip (352.5 KB)

i’ll do one for you but you can look at multifx for two values
here’s one based on the percolate Max library from the 1990s
called scrubs

feed it live sounds

that’s great thanks, i’ll check it out.
The other issue i have is the manual sample loading pd patches like Grainstates.
Because they ask to load a sample first, it won’t autoload/play on fates.
So want to change these kind of patches to autoload a sample from the same folder, so i can switch samples. Could you point me to a link to do that?

the easiest way i found is loading a folder with soundfiles
then with modulo_counter you can step through files numerically in a folder
modulo_counter is part of iem

Thanks so much for making this possible!

I was just wondering why I can’t seem to get anything (except for Minimoog) to respond to my QuNexus sending MIDI notes via channel 1 directly plugged into my Fates.

A couple of other concerns… if I route the MIDI through a DAW running on my laptop, it received the notes just fine… but I’ve encountered some hanging notes as of late.

Additionally, whenever I adjust any parameters - I hear the audio begin to crackle, is that because I’m not using a Raspberry Pi 4?

Yes I’m getting audio glitches in some of the patches. They must be pushing the limits somewhere

Update to the latest release, look at the info bar of the screen. If you see a dot at the top of the ā€œIā€ letter is because you’re receiving MIDI signals. If the dot is white the midi signal is in the correct channel, if the dot is grey the midi signal is not routed to the correct midi channel.

i couldn’t even get midi from my daw via the focusrite scarlett midi out with regular din cable or straight from laptop with usb20midi cable (which works with everything else in norns/fates, even connected to the octatrack) working in nornsmother. I think i tried every possible routing. the nanokontrol seems to be working fine with parameter control on faders so it seems like maybe i would have to buy a lpk25 or keystep to get this or Orac working with midi note in. if there is a workaround, i’m open to suggestions

Just…a sneak peek of future updates… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
