Awesome work! I report that:
Xylophone, Slatra, Koto
works very well.
Thank you!

How can I get Slatra to work? I placed the zip in the patches folder and refreshed… then chose to install it, but it just vanished after that.

Edit: I figured this out. It was just dumping the 5 files into the patches folder when selecting install for this one. I created a new folder called Slatra and put them in there and refreshed again. Boom.

You’ve got to unarchive the Slatra folder and put it in Sidekick > Patches, so “refresh” and you could be able to see Slatra in the main menu.

heyyyy all does anyone know how to avoid getting sent to the sidekick menu after bootup?

i find this happening after using a norns script. rather than booting up to where i previously was it boots up into the sidekick menu which is a bit annoying.

This is wonderful Oxbrown! I sold my Organelle recently, but I’ve been missing many of the patches. Thanks for your work.

also thank you @Oxbown for all the hard work and rapid updates. i may have come off like a quarantined brat claiming annoyance on a minor setback. was just curious if there’s a way around it…

I’m getting this also - i prefer it just boot up in Norns by default if possible.

Ok, ill fix this in the next update.
Can be fixed manually in /home/we/sidekick/sidekick.json , put like this one.

New Update v0.2.8

  • Initial support for OS3 patches (early beta)
  • New Visuals (still need more…)
  • Redesigned InfoBar (more compact, the same pixel size as Organelle)
  • Now Sidekick open the last patch when booting up.
  • New script to check the “versioncheck” function on the patches (no more incorrect OS warning messages)
  • Fixed LED bar (now shows the correct colors)
  • Minor CPU optimization (still need more work!!)
  • Cleaned code.
  • A lot of things that I don’t remember… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Update via “Update Mother” on Sidekick menu.

Pd: some OS v3 patches works, others not (because uses features that are not implemented in NornsMother)
Try: PokeHex , Pianelle

Post your impressions…

Thanks for the updates!

It’s there a way to know what version of Norms Mother you have installed currently?

There is a way via terminal (ssh)

Use this command line:

apt show nornsmother

@encephalitislethargi

I think I found the solution to the Launchpad (and other midi/USB devices that not work on NornsMother)

Open the file /home/we/sidekick/post-patch.sh

Edit the last line with the correct midi client (28:0 for Launchpad Pro)
Default is 20 (most of the midi devices uses “client 20”) but other may use 24, 28 etc…

In addition to expressing thanks for this project, I really appreciate that load behavior on startup is ‘just’ a flag.

did that work for you? i tried this back when i first got Orac and it didnt work. Doesn’t seem to work with this either. Maybe i need to assign it to a device slot in norns first rather than just using it as a grid but i was under the impression that norns midi device slots were not relevant in aconnect

i also thought that maybe since only one instance of the launchpad seems to work on the norns side, (Launchpad 2) that maybe i should change it to 28:1 per aconnect ports but still nothing. i feel like the solution has to be in one of these small details, It can’t be this difficult to connect a different midi controller when every other type works
