some thoughts/questions that occured to me after we were testing the (impressive) audio sharing:
-can you record someone else’s norns to your tape?
-does someone else’s norns go to your input so that you can run it through your own processing?
-all my audio gets sent to the other norns, right? so i could plug a guitar in and send some chords to the other end?
really great work here.

right now, no to both these questions. but in theory it is definetly possible. the sound from the other norns is piped via JACK so it can piped into any JACK input (crone, engine, softcut, etc.). i think i will make an option to do this. the tricky thing is that if both norns decided to pipe directly into the crone input (the beginning of the chain) they will feed each other into each other making feedback…so it just has to be coordinated to avoid that.

yes! right now the audio is piped out directly from the end of the signal chain. in theory this is possible to change too. for instance, there could be an option to only pipe out the softcut output or engine output. some more possibilities here!

v1.1.0 - share and collaborate

with this release, norns.online now will faciliate tape sharing and script save sharing. use the script to directly upload/download tapes/scripts as well as the functionality from before (to go online, beam audio+visual data).

once you have norns.online, the SHARE parameter will appear in the script you want to share, allowing uploading/downloading directly from other scripts. currently this is only implemented in barcode and oooooo, but if those are working then i will help any script authors add sharing into their own scripts.

note: the sharing has a lot of moving parts (~2000+ lines of code) and while i tested very thoroughly, some bugs may have fallen through the cracks. please don’t hesitate to lmk if you find a bug.
