Finished my second Norns as a gift for my SO.
Thanks @JHC for the case files, great design no doubt. Made my own acrylic top in smoked transparent, much nicer look. Also rectangular keys and soft touch knobs.

A third Norns is on the build…

Edit: extra pic to show superiority of smoked acrylic top

Metal cases for norns shield just appeared on pusherman : https://pushermanproductions.com/product/metal-case-kit-for-norns-shield/

I may go this route but would like to add a screen protection (laser cuttting it thight maybe).

Hard to get it to not slide over everywhere, my guess. Where to add rubber feet?

I’m guessing on the bottom ? Are there any flat parts there?

Not flat, maybe 2mm wide aluminum sheet??

Was that design not available here on lines at some point? Also in a fates version?

Cases by @Gregory_Delabelle who did a really stunning metal enclosure…
Thanks for the data from @okyeron for the smoke plexi faceplate. I combined it with a 3d-printed shell designed by @JHC and the metal front and 3d-printed version by @justinkowski !

Thanks to all of you guys!

I’m hoping to get some of the top plates from the shield github cut by Razorlab but if I open them in Inksacpe I see extra lines (the thick horizontal line and vertical are the page outline):
plate

Does anyone know if this is a problem with Inkscape or the files? Anyone sent the dxf to Razorlab? I have zero experience with vector/cad files.

Sounds like hidden layers that would/might cause a problem. Which files are you working from?

I see it on both the the files here - https://github.com/monome/norns-shield/tree/master/dxf

Just had another look and I think you’re right. It looks like there’s a layer called ‘0’ with the extra stuff on and then one called ‘180’ with the actual design. Presumably I can just delete the layer I don’t want and export as SVG (their preferred format)? Will that keep the physical dimensions?

Finally stuck a base on it

The feet are silicon insole offcuts  nicely grippy

Also today sliced the indicator line off the sides of the knobs for better endless turning

Yes in theory. Note - You do need to mind the units used when importing the DXF (although not sure about how inkscape does this). This is usually either inches or millimeters and things get a bit crazy when you use the wrong one.

Thanks for your help. I’ll have a chat to them and make sure it doesn’t come out the size of a keyring…or the size of a house!

thanks! I’m just about to make a case and love this design. what buttons are you using?
