there isn’t a comparable use case to something like tape.
among other things, softcut is different from tape in that tape is part of the norns user interface and (per the monome website) provides “a built-in mechanism to play audio files underneath a script as well as record system audio, so you don’t need connect a separate recording device to capture your creations.” softcut, unlike tape, isn’t something that stands on its own. it is only used by scripts for sample playback and recording (at least as far as i’m aware). the params menu does provide a few default controls for softcut, but these aren’t useful unless you are playing a script that leverages the softcut api.
