Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but:

I am on the most current version of Norns.
I am using ANGL from the ASH collection

I have had problems with it not loading the scene after power cycle.
I still have those problems.

I see the “load” and “save” screen, I save my scene, then set the “load” to load that scene, but that is not what happens after startup. It always starts up with a “blank” setting. Even if I save my scene AS a “default”…

what am I missing here?

help me understand.

try updating your copy of ash via the maiden manager. i just tested and the “default” setting loads correctly.

reallllly appreciating the samba stuff so far !

just added dust/audio to places in ableton which is priceless

update 200106 is available. run SYSTEM > UPDATE

  • fixes samba share config
  • bonus from @markeats — fileselect (ie tape load) now shows audio file lengths

Ah.
Finally! :grin::+1::innocent:
I had to trash the version I had on my norns, then re-install it via maiden.
Now it works.
Thank you for this suggestion @tehn!

I am trying this (since I can no longer delete files), but am not seeing a config folder on norns to put this config file in? What is the exact path where this file needs to be placed on norns? Thanks @tehn

FWIW I cannot even manage files via SMTP any longer… would like to get this resolved ASAP as I have a recording session this afternoon, thanks again!

According to the command in @tehn’s post, move it to /etc/samba/

Thanks for replying. That’s what I assumed, but I do not see an etc folder on norns when I SFTP in. It starts me in the we folder and I can’t go back from there just forward. Hope that makes sense. Thanks again

You can do it via ssh. If the conf file is put at the root of where you go when you sftp,

ssh we@norns.local
Type “sleep”
mv config_filename /etc/samba

this is fixed in the new update. just run the update.

Thanks for the repsonse. I ran the update this morning and that’s when it started happening. I just tried again and it says it’s up to date. I will try to update the samba config via ssh.

I am getting permissions issues via ssh as well:

10.0.0.41 ~/dust $ mv smb.conf /etc/samba
mv: replace ‘/etc/samba/smb.conf’, overriding mode 0644 (rw-r–r--)? yes
mv: cannot move ‘smb.conf’ to ‘/etc/samba/smb.conf’: Permission denied

Sorry to be a pain. Any ideas?

sudo mv smb.conf /etc/samba

something in the update must not have gone correctly if you’re still having issues. you can re-run the update by deleting /home/we/version.txt and restarting

Deleted version.txt, re-ran the upgrade and still getting the same permissions error after a restart. Will try again to move the samba config. Thanks

Still getting permissions error even after sudo new config file:

10.0.0.41 ~ $ cd dust
10.0.0.41 ~/dust $ sudo mv smb.conf /etc/samba
10.0.0.41 ~/dust $ Connection to norns.local closed by remote host.
Connection to norns.local closed.

The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items.

Any other ideas? Sorry but really want to get this resolved.

have you restarted your laptop?

that connection lost message above— did you restart your norns via the menu at this point?

Have not restarted laptop, will do that now. Connection lost was a sleep on norns since it looked like it had succeeded. Will let you know, thanks Brian

i’ll try to think of further tests, but it’s like your laptop and norns got stuck in a confused state.

in the meantime you can certainly use SFTP for moving files around.
