Ok this is weird, mine says up to date when I try and run the update

I ran 2310 ok,
I couldnā€™t record anything to tape since last update though?

Also itā€™s showing a .json file after every audio file

if you press k2 on the SELECT/SYSTEM/SLEEP screen, does it say 201029?

if not and if UPDATE says youā€™re up to date, hold k1 and press k3 on UPDATE to refresh and populate the 201029 release

next person with a shield who updates: please open maiden when you run the update so you can capture the status of the update.

note that if your shield doesnā€™t boot, you can still access all of your files by inserting your sd card into your computer and looking at the rootfs drive under /home/we/

Ok so this is weirder - went again to update with your instructions, previously it said it was 2310 but when I did you button combo it said 2310 available so I chose that and it updated. It hung on the reboot screen but thankfully has rebooted

Slight update - still canā€™t record to tape and then .json files are still visible

I havenā€™t got time right now but Iā€™ll do it connected to maiden when I try the 2910

Iā€™m having a world of weird here

Ok so I seem to be in a loop of some kind - i updated again to 2310 and it came up with 0 fw in the screen where your ip and fw are and wouldnā€™t boot into any apps but did show the splash screeens and instructions for them

Sooo maiden it is - went to maiden and attempted the install and itā€™s maiden - it checks GitHub and keeps referring to /norns/releases/download/2.4.4/fates201023.sha256
Then another file with all the same but with tgz at the end

So presently I can now play all apps that Iā€™ve tested, still showing .json files and I canā€™t record to tape (it will play the audio though)

iā€™m updated and things seem to be working well!

i love the waveform visualization - it is so wonderful on this little screen. i canā€™t wait to add it into some scripts!

i started playing around with the waveform ui and iā€™m having a little issue implementing a zoom. basically iā€™m pretty sure iā€™m using the right set points but the waveform visualizes a lot of what i think shouldnā€™t be in the zoomed-in window:

its 100% possible i messed up the code but in any case i need some help (pinging @csboling if you have time). here is the relevant code:

that repo should be functional (just turn E2/E3 to the right to get it to work and then K2 to zoom in/out)

okā€¦i just updated the shield norns!

  • started with a flash of: norns200106-shield.img
  • ran the SYSTEM > UPDATE
  • stuck on the screen ā€œshutting downā€ for a long time
  • unplugged it (wasnā€™t sure if it was stuck or if that was normal behavior on a shield norns. i guess they just donā€™t actually shut down all the way)
  • powered up and booting
  • looks like iā€™m on 201029
  • :stuck_out_tongue:

no worries about any lost files.
i normally back up all of the norns but the shield norns is only being used as an effect box so there really wasnā€™t anything in there to lose. heh!

now to go and update the rest of the horde.

small updateā€¦
i was installing all the scripts and one kept hanging on me: norns/circle/01 drone in three worlds

i left it ā€œinstallingā€ for quite a while and then finally hit the ā€œXā€ on the pop up in maiden.

looked back over at the shield and the screen was off.
pushed K1.
i had maiden still open and this is what i got when it woke up:

Thanks for the update. Crow is back up running and the midi devices are no longer duplicated. I egt another strange behaviour though. My Grid gets unresponsive and after disconnecting / connecting Norns freezes. This happened two times. Anyone else having trouble with Grid?
