Fates update is not available yet. I expect I’ll get the fork updated and tested later today or tomorrow.

UPDATE

minor typo hotfix added to the update which affects anyone who might be fiddling a bunch with the reverb settings. (if you don’t use the reverb, you’d likely not notice).

you can re-run the update by holding K1 while selecting SYSTEM > UPDATE

Not currently but that could probably be added as an option. Is the concern privacy or something else?

The motivation for the added behavior was to reduce what has become a frequent source confusion and questions - script X doesn’t appear in maiden.

Primary desire is just to align with my general approach; I don’t have any device doing auto-anything if I have the option.

Secondary question is whether there is version checking baked in; I’m often 1-2 system versions behind and so would want to avoid script updating if there were breaking changes.

Just to be clear the only thing which is updating is the list of available scripts, specifically this file.

The scripts installed on the device are not automatically updated.

Not in the traditional “package manager sense”, my last post in the maiden thread touches on this to some degree.

i think it’s the MIDI Fighter MIDI Twister causing this problem again.
powered it off and now norns #2 is behaving.

I also misinterpreted that as updating all scripts and was about to post a big “this will cause problems” …
Updating the list of available scripts on boot makes far more sense. :slight_smile:

Perhaps a note to add when this gets added to the docs, The sequentially part appears to be very important. (Testing on Shield) you must do K3, then K2, then K1 in order and then holding all for 10 secs.

Hitting them all at once did nothing, hitting K1, then K2, then K3 also did not work.

hey-

i’m very new to norns, so its entirely possible i did something wrong, but after applying this update (norns shield) i lost some audio functionality in a few apps. Notably, in cheat codes (1 & 2) live input recording no longer worked, although I was able to still load clips as usual. Cranes also seemed to be impacted, in that I could no longer sample audio input. I tried the usual round of fixes - checked all levels, restarted, system reset, re-installed affected scripts. Only when i did a fresh install of the shield image (201202) did it return to normal. After that i ran SYSTEM > UPDATE and the same problem returned : (
for now I’ve returned to a fresh install and will hold off updating. did anyone else have the same problem? am i missing something very obvious?

when you checked levels, did that include under PARAMS > SOFTCUT? the softcut level on the metered LEVELS screen is only the main output of softcut, but it doesn’t control the feed of the three sources (input, engine, tape). those are all addressable under PARAMS > SOFTCUT tho!

also, you might need to hold K3 while adjusting the level to get to fine-grain values

hmm, I feel like i checked everything but maybe i’ll try again! the fact it wasn’t just cc2 affected made me think i was having some wider problems. anyway, all is well for now! excellent script btw :slight_smile:

I’m on a Fates, so this might be a Fates related issue. But I am currently having the exact same problems after applying the lates update. No sound after recording into either CC2 or MLR. OOOOOO seems to be working still, so it can’t just be a Softcut issue…

Feel free to move this into the Fates thread, I just thought it might be relevant since I am not the first one having this issue.

definitely worth checking the softcut values under PARAMS - turned out that was the issue for me, everything was turned down to -inf after update. OOOOOO was still working for me as well though so I think maybe it handles recording differently?

Something happened to the SC REPL in Maiden? Commands like s.queryAllNodes; don’t seem to work anymore. ;restart works though.

i love the keyboard navigation in the norns menu, thanks. is there a way to control E1 with the hid keyboard so i can scroll between the params, levels, script, tape menus? or a key for K2 once inside of a script? i didn’t see this info in the docs/norns/reference/keyboard

*oh, it’s the F keys, sorry. is there a way to exit the script though? haven’t figured that one out
