a few weeks ago, @outoftunewolf, @tyleretters and I were able to sync up for a remote session to walk through maiden, the norns project manager. josh thankfully recorded it and after some editing, it seemed like it’d be helpful to share with the larger community!

how do you trouble shoot if norns is connected to wifi, but maiden wont load when the norns IP address is manually entered into the browser connected to the same wifi network?

There are a few places I’d try first

  • a simple ping to make sure that address is reachable
  • SSH (we@{addr} with the password sleep if this is your first time) in and check that everything was properly initialized
    • sudo systemctl status norns-maiden.service to see the server status
    • sudo systemctl status norns-maiden.socket to see the socket status

Also norns wifi troubleshooting and Norns wifi difficulties, check firewall, restart everything.

I tried deleting my wifi access from norns settings and then re-adding the Wifi router to norns and now it is stuck at “activating” and doesnt seem to want to connect to the router

EDIT: was able to get my norns to connect to the wifi, but cant seem to connect from my laptop. Tried samba and ssh through terminal and it seems to get stuck each time. Using a cox wifi router with their own mesh network. Have read through the prior threads too. Am using a panda wifi dongle. Tried it in different usb ports on the norns. tried restarting norns. still shows as connected on norns to the wifi but cant connect via my laptop.
