_Hello everyone,
I come back with the same issue, after trying a wireless usb key and then the ethernet cable, i still can’t connect to my network…
I find it in the “add list” but after entering the password nothing happens.
I wanted to use the Terminal option with a usb cable connected but the TAB key doen’t effect anything.
If someone have patience to answer and give the steps to endless connect to Maiden, it would be very appreciated.
Thanks !IMG_0129 IMG_0128

i don’t know if this is relevant for shield but is your wifi network 5ghz or 2,4ghz? with my router i have the ability to set up both. some devices can’t connect to the 5ghz network.

Does it work from a different device such as your phone ?

Never worked for me either.

I use Cyberduck to connect to the Norns for uploads/file management which isn’t ideal, but it works.

I have both also but none of them works…

I’ve tried to switch the wifi network and choose norns networks. Then i could join Maiden and see my norns architecture but can’t update or install anything… still the same problem…

Can you forget the hotspot and just connect norns to your SFR-3488 network?

YES !!! This is working !
It was as simple as that !
I still don’t understand the cocktail networks between the “norns nnnnnnnn” and mine but It works and that is the main thing !
Thanks Corpusjonsey and all the community who has helped !

i’m so glad this got resolved!! thanks all for hopping in

hoping to plan for this sort of trouble in the docs, but i want to confirm where the hiccup was.

@benwild , were you originally unable to connect your computer’s WIFI to the hotspot that norns hosts? and then you were able to connect your computer’s WIFI to the norns hotspot? but then you weren’t able to connect norns to the SFR_3488 network with your SFR_3488 password and then you were?

apologies for my confusion!

for the future, serial is only possible on a stock norns. i’ll make that more clear in the docs!

Hello Dan,
I can tell the total history of my problem, step by step. Originaly, it was ok, i’ve followed the process in your video “Norns walkthrough” and the bridge between my shield and maiden was made. And one day, one day i’ve changed my wifi password. At this moment my problem has started. The shield could connect to “hotspot” (i guess the norns hosts) and also recognize my wifi network but each time i was entering the password, nothing, no db… i have thought that maybe the shied had an issue to keep the connection so i’ve tried with ethernet and a wifi usb key but again, no results… many path were explored without getting the bridge back… And then, miracle, Corpusjonsey suggest to ignore hotspot and to add my wifi network directly and bam ! this time the password has worked, just like that, the bridge was built again. I hope my english is clear and those informations helpfull…

I’m having an issue connecting my Norns to my wifi network. When I go into Wifi, and then add, I see my network name (it’s the only network selection available, and I’m doing this less than 1ft away from the router). I enter the password and hit ‘OK’ but then nothing happens. It doesn’t connect or get saved under networks, also, the password is correct. If I then go to ‘CONNECT’, it says ‘NONE’. I’ve tried two differnet wifi nubs. Thoughts?

sorry to hear about the trouble!
do any of the steps listed in this section of the docs help?
happy to assist further, just wanted to be sure all the standard approaches to the trouble were exhausted

Hi Dan,

Thank you. I’m assuming the nub(s) are fine as they are showing my network under ‘CONNECT’ (and when I take them out I see ‘NONE’).

I am able to connect through terminal with the cord connected to the computer, although when I do ‘norns login: ssh we@norns.local’ and password ‘sleep’, I get an incorrect password error

for sure!

oh! serial has a bit of a different invocation from SSH.
for the username and password part, you should just need:

  • username: we
  • password: sleep

if that continues to fail, you can reset your password via the norns SYSTEM menu – that should take effect immediately. hopefully this all resolves the trouble, but lmk!

Thank you. I reset the password to ‘sleep’ but I’m still getting login incorrect issues with serial. Will serial help me fix the issue about it connecting and saving my network under ‘CONNECT’? btw, this is a new one running 220802. And I’m running the latest macOS.

I can connect to it via a hotspot, but I can’t install anything as I’m connected to the norns and not the router, and therefor it can’t reach github.

One time I entered the password and it showed ‘activating’ under status, but never connected.

Thanks for your help!
