Hi !

A while back I made a post about a modular hang at the studio I work at in Manhattan. We’ve been super busy and haven’t done many, but we are doing one this Wednesday (6/19) from 7p-10p. If you would like to attend, please dm me.

I had made a google email chain for this, but I got a new computer in between time and can’t remember my password -_- … So I’ll make a new one after this event.

I hope that I’m not spamming here, but…

I’ll be playing The Cutting Room with Erin Hill this Wednesday, June 19th. Doors at 6:30, and we go on an 7:30. No modular, but I’m using the pedal steel as a sound source through a bunch of effects, so some sonic adventures. It will be a fun evening… the band features Harp, Pedal Steel, Drums, Violin, Cello, and Vox, both front and background. It is one of the rare club shows that we do in NYC. I hope to see you there!

Not quite NYC, but there’s something called Buddyfest going on in Kingston tonight and tomorrow. Anyone going?

Strange Stage is happening this Saturday. Seem like an all modular lineup this time. Come on out and see some cool music.

Just thought I would cross-post this in this thread - taking sign-ups for a Modular on the Spot @ Nowadays!

I’ll be checking out my friend and sometime-collaborator Michael Hendley at Mirror in the Woods this Saturday. Should be a mix of self generating synth patches, found sound, and guitar. Drop me a line if you are heading out, would love to make some IRL lines introductions.

New York Modular Society is doing a Halloween Show. Would love to see you come out.

I’m participating in Gowanus open studios on October 19th and 20th this year, so feel free to come by, grab a beer and chill on the couch in my studio. It’s pretty open ended, so no formal schedule to it – feel free to just swing by and say hi. (I do a lot of generative a/v and sound work and have been hacking on my Norns a lot, and I’m always happy to nerd out!)

GoS is a pretty big event so its totally worth grabbing a map and wandering around the neighborhood one afternoon, especially if you’re on that side of Brooklyn.

Noon to 6pm on 10/19 and 10/20
56 2nd Ave.
Brooklyn, NY 11215
(A couple blocks from the 9th street F/G/R station)

I just moved to Jersey City, across the river from Manhattan. Is anything happening in NYC these days?

I feel like most of my favorite NYC spaces are small and poorly ventilated - and absolutely going to be the last thing to reopen, if they do.

Less outdoor music than I expected going on too, it has been a quiet summer if you don’t count what you hear coming from barbecues and people’s cars.

Art has been slowly coming back - museums and galleries are frequently open, though you need to book ahead of time for indoor spaces. We recently went to see a laser and sound piece, Intangible Forms, at this place Artechouse in Chelsea. Carl Craig has an exhibition up at Dia:Beacon I plan on checking out.

I’m sure there are very underground parties going on right now too but I’m too old and risk-averse.

I’ll add that I like the nonsense nyc mailing list for a weekly look at what’s going on in underground events across music, art, theater, etc - it’s about 90% streaming and 10% outdoors right now though.
