This looks kind of cool but at $550 a ticket I’ll pass:

But Transfer gallery is doing their Transfer Download there – and that is open to the public.

Parsons Algorave Studio x Commend

So cool to see two Parsons Collab final presentations in this thread! I suppose it makes sense there’d be an overlap between the Parsons DT community and Lines. Anyone teaching there in the fall should PM me.

Childcare demands mean I don’t make it to basically anything but I love knowing that people are out there doing wild stuff.

I’ll be performing on the 18th with a few amazing improvisers!

https://www.facebook.com/events/311051912894702/

A new and occasional improvised music series dedicated to fostering group electro-acoustic improvisation in varying combinations.

The purpose of this series is to encourage the development of emergent musical languages through the exploration of real-time group dynamics, and to foster a healthy amount of irreverence for the cult status of the solo artist. No solo sets. Artists that play together stay together!

Community #1 features the improvisational talents of:

Tania Caroline Chen - electronics
Anastasia Clarke - electronics
Sandy Gordon - percussion/objects
John McCowen - clarients/recorders
Nathan Wheeler - electronics
James Ilgenfritz - bass

Free Klenengan - Gamelan Kusuma Laras June 29th

GKL is presenting another Klenengan in 2 weeks. Klenengan is an informal performance or jam session of Indonesian Gamelan, typically very long, and attendees are welcome to come and go throughout the night.

Our klenengan will be a (relatively) short 6 hours with a 45 minute dinner break for the performers during which audience members will be invited to learn how to play a short phrase on the instruments.

All ages are welcome to the performance and the hands-on session.

There are usually Indonesian snacks on offer from the consulate, though the consulate’s kitchen is being renovated so I’m not sure what that will look like this time around.

SATURDAY, JUNE 29 2019 from 5 - 11 PM
(break from 7:30 pm to 8:15 pm)
The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia
5 East 68th Street, New York City

Here’s an excerpt of one of the pieces we’ll be playing from a previous concert to give you a sense of the vibe (video quality is bad, but the audio good):

Hi !

A while back I made a post about a modular hang at the studio I work at in Manhattan. We’ve been super busy and haven’t done many, but we are doing one this Wednesday (6/19) from 7p-10p. If you would like to attend, please dm me.

I had made a google email chain for this, but I got a new computer in between time and can’t remember my password -_- … So I’ll make a new one after this event.

I hope that I’m not spamming here, but…

I’ll be playing The Cutting Room with Erin Hill this Wednesday, June 19th. Doors at 6:30, and we go on an 7:30. No modular, but I’m using the pedal steel as a sound source through a bunch of effects, so some sonic adventures. It will be a fun evening… the band features Harp, Pedal Steel, Drums, Violin, Cello, and Vox, both front and background. It is one of the rare club shows that we do in NYC. I hope to see you there!

Not quite NYC, but there’s something called Buddyfest going on in Kingston tonight and tomorrow. Anyone going?

Strange Stage is happening this Saturday. Seem like an all modular lineup this time. Come on out and see some cool music.
