globally disabling time stretching would also have been nice

If this works with external MIDI control, it’s going to be absolutely brilliant and a game changer for how I use the OT. For example, with a sample chain containing multiple drum types, you could p-lock start (slice) to set which drum type is on which step. Now if you can do that for multiple steps at a time, you can build beats by just holding down multiple trigs and sending the relevant start CC value for the slice you want. In other words, hold a bunch of trigs on one hand, then push CC button with the other, done.

Here’s to OS 1.50!

Although(feel like I’m repeating this to much): the pre sliced ā€œempty wav bufferā€ technique really helped me overcome a lot of the pickup machine limitations. But it’s more of a digital pre sliced multiple tape machine looper. Ish.

Anyways. You gotta love that the OT recieves this kind of boost 10 years later. Let’s hope there is still some pickup machine updates somewhere along the road.

Yeah I use that a lot for a variety of purposes. But the whole thing about not being able to disable time stretching or having to predefine a bpm master track to try and avoid the automatic tempo jumps drives me crazy.

I’m so stoked by this update! The changes to the Page LEDs are so useful, it’s so much easier to see now.

you can trigger slices via midi now !!!

and you can do it with the ot buttons too

also now im thinkinign of the possibilities of controlling slices on the ot using norns. like using ekombi or playfair to trigger slices !

does anyone know if you can do midi loopback using midi thru to mini in? i already use midi out in my setup to control my modular so using midi out to midi in isint an option

why is it when i boot up my OT now it says ā€œno set it mounted, please mount oneā€ . ?? it never did that before but has been doing it this week. i thought sets auto-loaded?

This is HUGE. There was a long thread on Elektronauts about workarounds for this a few years back and I provided what I think might’ve been the best workaround and it was really, really janky. This is a real game changer for my workflow.

By the way, I’m working on a norns app that could take advantage of the new triggering options but it’s in kind of a rough state. If you’re on the Discord you probably heard about it already  If any OT users would like to help out with testing, ideas, UI, etc. I would love to collab - PM me here or on Discord (username: sweepstakes).

Seems like great updates. Not long ago I tried to edit multiple trigs at once and was so confused when it didn’t work. Seems so intuitive and such omission, but better late than never. Elektron’s support is pretty amazing, crazy to think this is pretty much the same machine I used to own over 8 years ago (sold mkI, had years without Elektron gear, had Digitakt, made comeback with mkII less than year ago), but so much stuff added.

Really itching to update… but tomorrow I have a live streaming gig, so no way I’ll update now

Oh, where can we watch it?

i’m going to try this when i get home, but it seems like you can assign a sample to a trig just by playing whichever midi note is assigned to the corresponding slot that’s tied to the midi note. the same method as when you’re programming a chord or note to a trig with a midi keyboard or controller on the midi side. that could be a real time saver.

i think a lot of these new features from this update are already improving my workflow and the way i approach this machine

Yes, this goes for both slots and slices. It works well but there are some clicks and artifacts at the moment.

I was just watching Gaz Williams’ update review video. This isn’t part of the update, but I had no idea that you could go into record mode and essentially do parameter recording just by wiggling knobs… this box always surprises me. I kind of understood what trigless trigs were but watching him do that one little thing as an aside was eye opening. (Link is timestamped to that action.)

One thing I really like in 1.40 is you can copy several trigs at a time, and then offset-paste them all at once. I have never seen this feature in a step sequencer before, and it could really speed up building patterns.

Still can’t copy one trigger into multiple places at the same time

I had the same, I hit ok, then I could simply load an existing one.

yeah, that’s what i’ve been doing… but i don’t recall it before asking every time to find a SET… i thought it just loaded the last one used…
