are you priming the recording?

also, try setting vol pinch (in global parameters) to 0 and make sure the rec thresh is low enough to just trigger if you are priming. the vol pinch helps to eliminate pops by ramping up recording volume over that time.

one more thought: i know this is not ideal, but one way around this is to record your kick drum loop into longer loop than needed and then adjust the start position so it starts just where you need it.

Yep. I did prime first. I’ll try out your
suggestions when I get home. Thanks again.

finally delved into this script last night!
i had it on some AUX sends so i could send all sorts of noiz into it!
turned into last night’s noiz session using OOOOOO, @tyleretters Dronecaster, Arcologies and my usual go to @Justmat MANGL.

@infinitedigits the random feature is AMAZING to perform with!
also…would it be possible to rearrange the [A] functions?
random - random loop - Save - Load?

This is so so so good! Thank you for implementing it
I really like the random functions on [A] Page. Wishing it had the reset every X beats too  Could lead to some great things.
Also would it be possible to enable a ‘record to all loops’ in the [A] page? That with reset for random could be really nice for adding musically related textures as well as with the echo mode.

@SPIKE, love your session -lots of great sounds. this sounds great, will do in next update.

yeah, i can fit both these in, i think!

This is amazing - the moment in this vid where you randomize the loops sounds so awesome!

Fantastic app

For later maybe ability to make splices and play with the grid

And why not add crackle and hiss or old tape simulation but that is an fx I guess

Cheers

Small request - a number value indicator for panning, just for consistency’s sake. Maybe -50 to 50?

This is the most fun I’ve had with a looper in a really long time, so thank you very much for sharing this and the work you’ve put into it!

OK I have to say this. I’ve been impressed with a few norns scripts, but this one just jumped way ahead of everybody in my personal favourites list. It’s simple, powerful, intuitive and really really cool.
Had some big fun with the randomize function!
Thank you so much for making this!

But since you’re asking this

I’d love level, rate and perhaps pan to be exposed so I can MIDI map them. I’d rather use a controller than navigate around between loops on the norns UI. Ideally also priming REC for each loop via MIDI would be really great!

While the reverse feature is there, I would love to have a one-click way to jump from normal to reverse, without changing the speed and without having to scroll through all the rates to get there.
Maybe rate and direction should be separate parameters?

Any chance there will be any sort of LFO implementation like in Barcodes?
I’m imagining all of those loops moving around (levels and panning) on the screen!

Also hoping for Crow support down the road with CV control over all parameters.
Thank you for your efforts and a great script!

thank you everyone for your kind words! also thanks for all the ideas, this is becoming a nice collaboration  happy to take more ideas still!

and wow and flutter too…

sure, i’ll add that to next release!

this is a nice idea, i love that sound of reversing. i’ll look to add this.

is there another norns script that does something similar to this that i could refer to? i’m not versed in midi mapping yet. looking to learn and will add as soon as i do.

haha i was just thinking about this. at that point, barcode might become redundant. but i agree, i think it would be fun to have lfos on everything. i definitely know how to do this, but it will take some time to get in the code.

I don’t think you need to do anything at all actually.
IIRC you just make sure that the parameters you want to be MIDI mappable are visible under EDIT. Anything that is visible there, can be MIDI mapped. That part is handled by the norns OS.

I need to test further but I have been experiencing low audio levels when recording loops. I’ve checked my input level meters in the parameters section and they look acceptable.Even when I raise the level of the individual loops they still sound low.

When I switch to the “Cranes” script and record some material in the playback is much louder than in oooooo.

Im having issues launching the script -error:init

Ive tried installing from Maiden and then removed and installed manually with the 0.61 version. Am I missing something obvious - new at this…

i think i had this too and not sure what happened or how it got fixed. maybe in my case i had the compressor turned off while i usually have it on. the code explicitly turns the volumes up on the inputs and doesn’t touch the compressor, though. cranes doesn’t touch the conmpressor either though. so i’m not sure what that did in your case.

can you open maiden and run it from there and see what errors you get?

it would be cool to use the grid to position the loops (pan, size & level just by resizing-moving), arm record, trigger playback, clear with pad presses. some sort of pad visualization of each ring maybe. just dreaming out loud

here you go - I just had to figure out to run from Maiden - you learn every day!

what version of norns do you have?

the problem code is clock.get_tempo() should be available in the latest version.
