Yes, you can. You need to go to the MIDI settings and map using the learn function. I made a quick video showing how;
edit: sorry, i forgot to rotate it :frowning:

When I click on that parameter nothing happens. I can only ‘learn’ on the params that have a dash ‘-’ after them. For example ‘1rate’.

Sorry, im not sure in what part you are in Norns but i dont see any dash.

You need to go to parameters, the maps, then scroll down to the OOOOOO parameters, which are after the CLOCK.

I made another video using 16n mapped to Norns controlling each tape volume and speed.

yes, i know these steps. they work fine with all other scripts. but in oooooo it just doesn’t respond to “learn”. the params that are learnable are the ones that have a dash to the right of them. very strange…

do you have the latest version of oooooo installed? what firmware of norns?
edit: since i found that this is related to other scripts aswell i’ve moved it to a specific question topic.

Any way you can make an LFO to record? You’re so close to making this a replacement for Red Means Recording’s Loop Forest patch on the Zoia for me. An LFO on loop start in addition to loop end would also be amazing.

What do you mean by that? That LFO would trigger the recording of an O?

I just wanted to say that I bought a Norns Shield because of oooooo.

Ok, I can’t believe how great oooooo is. Absolutely fantastic. I had more or less every fancy looper that came out in recent years and this one is up there with the very best of them.

As I saw that feature suggestions are welcome, here are some things that could be interesting. Hope I did not miss anything.

  1. Maybe enhance the rate (%) parameter with 5ths. So you would e.g. go: Regular speed, regular plus 5th, octave up, octave up plus 5th, etc.

  2. An additional stepped random or square LFO shape. This would be especially useful if set to the rate (%) parameter. So you could jump back and forth between octaves for example.

  3. LFO for the start parameter.

  4. When recording is not linked to treshhold, at the moment you have to prime a loop and then press K1+3 again to start it. Maybe make the recording start with just K3 once it is armed, so you can concentrate more on the instrument instead of the looper.

Thank you so much!

new version v1.0.0!

(not a breaking change, just wanted to bump to v1)

  • new feature: lfo on the start position
  • ux: add fifth’s to the discrete rates

basically following great suggestions from @boboter!

i think i get the stepped random - that would have an lfo randomly change the rate? i’m not sure i understand the square lfo - would that just cycle up/down through the rates?

i’m still curious about doing this too! haven’t tried yet. but it would make sense to me to trigger recording when the lfo crosses 0.

Wow, that was incredibly fast. Thank you very much!

Both LFO types would essentially do the same thing, jump between rates (or tunings if you will). If the attenuation was e.g. set to allow a modulation across two octaves of the rate (%) parameter, a stepped random would create five possible values (0 oct, 0 oct + 5th, 1 oct, 1 oct + 5th, 2 oct). While a square would just have two (0 oct, 2 oct).

To be honest, I just mentioned both lfo types so you have something to chose from in case you were on the fence about this feature. I ‘borrowed’ the idea from Blooper.

One other thing I noticed when trying to set up a midi controller, is that most parameters don’t seem to be mappable (anymore). I can see them in the parameter list, but the little ‘-’ symbol next to them is not there and I can’t open the learn page.

Not sure if this is Norns or script related.

new version v1.1.0

right on the heels of v1.0.0

  • new feature: rate lfos!
  • ux: every parameter is now mappable

thanks again @boboter for finding that mapping :bug: lmk if you find anymore.

also added those rate lfos, and oh wow they are fun. i should’ve added them awhile ago! i just recorded one loop of drums and then made a very fast rate lfo on it and got instant turntabilism:

I’ve been running into irritating clicking issues when looping. I’d love to know how you all work around this.
