i have the code working for granular samplers but i am over my head in programming the ARCs in pd so iā€™d love to collaborate with someone who might be more adept in the osc code and getting orac/pd talking to the ARCs :slight_smile:

@TheTechnobear Iā€™m am trying the VNC connection from my iPad to Fates - I get vnc connect working fine, but Iā€™m getting the ā€œConnection failed (invalid argument)ā€ error on restarting sidekick (while holding down b1).

Anything I should be looking at to sort that out?

ā€¦and how do I check what version number Iā€™m running? (Might need to update)

This is needed since this is how x gets the display auth

Itā€™s not about sidekick really, this is just basic vnc / x stuff ā€¦ sidekick just launches stuff and that process then inherits permission/display info from it.

I got Pd running remotely via XQuartz (even on MacOS catalina). Its really useful for debuging and developingā€¦

Yeah thatā€™s what I do, but many prefer using vnc.
( also itā€™s obviously easier for window users ;))

Potentially dumb question ahead, but this feels like the right place to ask. Does the organelle still feel like a good instrument to explore, or does orac running on Norns scratch that itch? I realize this is subjective and very low level. With that said, opinions are welcome.

As you say itā€™s quite personal/subjective.

For me, the organelle still feels more complete, simply because I find it useful to have a keyboard, and I also like the option of the speaker on the M,
I love the portability/ease of use it has.
Also I enjoy the organelle patches ( which currently seem quite different to norns patches - different use base ? ).
And i find it very easy to of putting together stuff in PD.

So the organelle is still the thing I pick up when I want to play.
But thatā€™s just me,

if you always use the thing in a studio, or you use a monome grid, or you want to use SC/Lua - then Norns/Fates may look more suitable to you.
Im sure lots here will list those and other reasons they prefer norns and so would run orac on it.

At the end of the day, Itā€™s a personal decision, neither is better, just different - I believe choice is a good thing.

Anyway both are excellent, and provide so many opportunities for exploration.

( And of course there are are other valid choices too, eg a laptop + controller, or Bela :wink: )

its working for me here with latest update (updated thru norns menu)

Ive just updated in last few minutes, and had no issues.
I saw there were various little issue with this norns release, so I wanted to wait till they were ironed out,
did you make sure you got their latest release?, as they re-released it a couple of times.

its 99% likely that there is a norns issue perhaps not related to fates - not sidekick, which basically just launches norns.

Just updated my orac/norns and have no troubles using sidekick to launch norns.

i fully intend to make a few of my patches for Norns/Sidekick i just went down a rabbit hole with Less Concepts and i am really enjoying myself. I have some fun pd patches that i want to make PdNorns

sidekick.json seems that not work, I made changes on the file and there is no changes on the behabour of sidekick.
Anyone can help me?

This would interest me a lot - V3 automatonism has just been released a few days ago with even more modules. Vcv rack also.
