Thanks:) I’ll try:))

There is a bug in NUILite gline - draw a line, then draw it with 0 intensity, and it leaves an outline behind (possibly from an anti-aliasing routine?). Try

/nui/gline 15 20 30 30 60
then
/nui/gline 0 20 30 30 60

It leaves behind a box outline where the line was.

I am currently trying to get Orac/Sidekick installed on my factory Norns - but it doesn’t want to take. I’ve updated, run sudo apt update, and even done a factory reset and tried again. After each installation, I continually get this error:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
orac : Depends: puredata (>= 0.49.0) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Has anyone else run into this?

I don’t now much about this error, but maybe you can try: sudo apt-get --reinstall install pd
and then rerun the Orac installation.
And you can also check which version of pd is installed with pd -version

Thanks, I’ll give that a whirl tonight. Much appreciated.

Love my Norns and have installed orac on it (which is amazing)…but…
not sure if I am am being a complete idiot, but I cant get audio in.
Ive set the patch up with a serial router, using the CVin_audio (a1) and and fx on a2 but can get any output…even tried adding a CVout Audio in a3.

Am I just being an idiot? If so what am I doing so wrong.

Cheers

KUrt

have you tried to turn the input gain up on the Serial > Chain 1 Gain page ?

Yep…gain is at 100%. Not entirely sure if the CVin Audio module is the correct one to use…Not much documentation on those floating around.

Sorry I have no experience using CVin on Orac, only using line in signals… Is it a CV specific issue or are you also getting no sound with standard audio input ? I’ve looked into the CVin_audio orac module and it seems to do nothing more than applying a gain to the incoming signal from adc~

Cool. sounds like they might be a crow related thing. Im just trying to use the standard line in so will give it another go without those modules in the chain…Cheers

as @lcchy points out, you don’t need CV_Audio for this at all…
you can just use the chain audio input/outputs.

the outputs should ‘just work’… the input will need the audio gain turning up for the relevant chain.

(the reason for this ‘extra step’ is I found some devices gave noise on the audio input channels if a cable was not connected to the audio input - so was better to have it off by default)

the cvtools modules are used when dealing with CV over a DC coupled audio interface,
e.g. something like the Expert Sleepers ES8

sorry, no idea about Crow… as I don’t have one, if it presents itself as USB class compliant audio interface it should work.

I’m back with another plea for some help getting orac/sidekick on my factory norns. I see this error message after each install attempt:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
orac : Depends: puredata (>= 0.49.0) but 0.47.1-3 is to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

I’ve tried installing puredata first, updating it afterward, and reinstalling. I’ve even flashed a new image on to my norns and tried the install script from a ‘pure’ state.

I’m beginning to think orac is not in the cards for my norns as no one else has seen these errors. Still, any direction of what to try next would be appreciated. Thanks!

Here is the full output from the install:

honestly, don’t know whats going on…

I don’t have time to create a fresh image here… but Im able to install pure-data from stretch-backports without issue here…

try the following:

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 04EE7237B7D453EC
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get -t stretch-backports install -y puredata

Thanks for the quick reply @TheTechnobear. I was still getting multiple errors trying to reach the key server, but after a number of tries, I was able to get puredata installed with the commands you recommended and some good old google-ing. Everything is up and running!

Thanks for the assistance – but even more so – thanks for making such great open-source software like orac. We’re lucky to have you in this community.

Hello! I’m new to the community and truly love and appreciate all the incredible capabilities of this amazing software/device and the hard work of all the people who made this happen!

I have read through much of the message board and tried multiple fixes but I cant seem to resolve the password denied issue I keep facing when trying to SSH into the norns! Is there something I am missing? I’m running the linux subsystem on a windows 10, have tried PuTTY, FileZilla and Cyberduck with the IP + we:sleep but nothing seems to work! any help would be appreciated as I am dying to install orac on my DIY fates and get this incredible beast hooked up to my push. Thanks so much

ssh we@192.168.1.X

Does not work? (Substituting your own up address)

not with the password sleep!
Ive changed the config settings to
PermitRootLogin yes - and then tried to change a few other things (see screenshot) but Im still receiving “password denied”

Unless it’s something strange with your linux setup (I don’t know anything about linux on windows), I’d suggest putting a keyboard and HDMI monitor on the Fates to reset the we user password and/or check login stuff directly.

Thanks so much!! I’ll give it a go

Hello! I cant even seem to login to the fates whilst connected to the HDMI!!! It seems a bit of a catch 22 as I cant change the configuration for the login without first logging in? Do you have any suggestions of what to do to rectify this?
