yes, you can add user modules to Orac

you need to place in a sub directory of
~/media/orac/usermodules

e.g.
lets say we have a user module called ‘myreverb’, it will comes as directory called myreverb.

so you end up with something like:
~/media/orac/usermodules/fx/myreverb

you need to restart orac to be able to see this (assuming its already running)

this post describes some that work…

as discussed above, the reason for incompatibility is simple - Orac on norns does not support the ‘custom graphics’ mode used by some modules made for the organelle.
the reason for this, is they basically ‘bypass’ Orac to draw to the screen.

This makes a great end to my year! Thank you!

Once again, very grateful for this project and your generous support.

And to all happy new year!

Some patches have .DS_Store files in them. I can’t copy them to /norns.local/… (for example the Mellotron patch is unusable because I can’t copy these files…). Is there some workaround? I’m using Windows 10

Thanks!

FYI - the most recent norns update - 210114 - adds a reset feature where all the norns apps will be restarted if you hold the 3 keys down for 10 seconds.

This won’t work if you have Sidekick installed, because Sidekick will intercept the “all 3 buttons” press at 5 seconds.

Maybe not a big deal, but something to be aware of if you have sidekick installed.

FWIW - sidekick and the norns reset watcher are actually doing the same thing - shutting down all the norns processes - so maybe this really does not matter.

An aside - if we wanted to have both features…

One potential workaround would be to reconfigure the sidekick preference file and change the time to activate to longer than 10 seconds. Then be sure to activate the 3 keys sequentially in order K1, then K2, then K3 and hold. (Norns expects the keys in sequence K3, K2, K1 so this should avoid norns catching the press/hold).

@TheTechnobear it appears norns-watcher.service would need to get added to the sidekick norns startup routine to make that work. On norns shield the watcher service appears not to get started because norns.target is not running.

That’s totally fine!

hello, I´m new here. I have a problem to install orac on my Norns. where I have to paste the following command ```
sudo curl https://thetechnobear.github.io/apt-norns/install.sh | sh
