Anytime Never hesitate to ask!
Very very newbie question: I’ve just started Orca for the first time and it says No midi. Even refreshing the device list does nothing. What am I supposed to do? (sorry)
EDIT: found the answer in the tutorial. Sorry again.
hey @AlessandroBonino! Glad you fixed your problem. I have accidentally pushed a version of Orca in which Midi did not work properly, about the same time you must have downloaded your copy. Did you get builds or are you building orca yourself? If MIDI doesn’t seem to work, just download a new copy
I got the build and it does emit sound in plugins at the moment, so no problem!
Excellent Thanks for letting me know! Keep me posted if you have any question.
Little bug i think, i have difficulties to switch to loopMIDI in MIDI, i have to select NO OUTPUT first in order to select it.
Ah! Yes, you’re the second one to mention this issue. I will look into it.
Hey There… Just got Orca and tried to set it up to my IAC… When i open it shows the iac output for a second but then it dissapears… Any tips ?
@Goldberg That’s normal, it only displays it for 10 frames, if you wanna see it again, press cmd+shift+n, that will reset the frame count and show it again for 10 frames.
cmd+shift+n
I have fixed the Midi Selection issue and pushed new builds and version to /master on the repository! I hope these works for you. I have also improved various other things. Enjoy
/master
Huge thank you for fixing the midi issue!! Just starting with ORCA and Loving it!!
Is it not possible to set the bpm slower than 60bpm?
It’s locked in the build at the moment, if you’ve seen videos of people with very low or very high BPMs, they’ve modified it in clock.js — The speed is currently locked from 60, to 300, to limit accidents.
ok. thanks for confirming. what do you mean by “accidents?” do i need to sign a waiver if i modify clock.js?
Haha, no nothing like that. But if you allow the FPS to drop very low, it might be harder to test things, if you allow it to go very high, it’ll take a toll on your CPU.
plug it into Norns passersby
Added a new operator for monophonic synths, it manages the noteOn/noteOff a bit better than the normal midi operator. Enjoy!
Here’s my first go on Orca playing Norns passersby synth. A really interesting and unique sequencer and a completely different way of working which is really enjoyable. I am not a coder but easy to work with especially after watching the Allieway Audio vids. I love the modular type things you can do with it. Thank you! Now very much looking forward to @its_your_bedtime Norns version I hope it can be tied to Passersby or FM7 synth on Norns or a sample player of some sort for triggering drums
I’ve had this silly idea at the back of my mind for days… I just had to do it.
Orca can into Aphex!
