Thissss is a dream! It’s running standard orca, not orca-c?

yes its standard Orca its not faultless, but its running
For not too complex patches its fine. I get glitches / lag once injecting patches and once there is a few operators present. Learning to use them as feature. Occasional crash while looking at menu on top. But figured it only happens if i use mouse. With keyboard and shortcuts it didn’t crash yet.

Yes, modulating the rate at which they are created is a great way to get interesting collisions, survival of the fittest. I do the same! Way late to the game but I am loving this topic.

@neauoire would you know if its possible to set Orca up so it opens in full screen with midi clock on, selected midi output and with loaded one of the patches? I wonder where this can be set?
Is it electron? node.js or some script in Raspberry Pi? Can I add few settings once running npm install?

Planning to make Raspberry PI boot into patch ready to go. Would be super cool  just not sure where to look for it and where to start. Would really appreciate any tips

It’s not at the moment but I have been looking into it. I think I will make it so you can specify a few things in the parameters like

npm start fullscreen clock test.orca

Give me a few more days to put this together.

Amazing, thanks heaps, yeah that would be perfect!

Hello everyone, this is my first post here.
I have created a tutorial for Orca using Pilot, it goes from the basics and progressively becoming more complex as I explain how to use more operators using examples through patches.

Is there a way to (from commandline linux) open orca with a certain file, like
orca dance_the_night_away.orca

If not, it might be possible to include it in the “put this together”, seems related…

that already works with orca-c, you want this in the electron version like I’ve described here?

not sure if this is really the right thread so feel free to steer me elsewhere if appropriate:

I’ve been playing with Orca & Pilot but would like to have Orca sending midi to Reaper… do I need something like “loopmidi” that allieway uses in between? Also, I haven’t invested any money in Reaper, just doing the free trial at the moment so if the answer is a different DAW i’ll take that into consideration :stuck_out_tongue: Thank you and sorry for newbie question, i am a luddite

PS ORCA IS AMAZING THANK YOU FOR THIS !!

hey @renegog,

You only need LoopMidi if you’re on Windows, Linux and OSX should have virutal midi support(IAC Driver for OSX for example), once you have loopMidi/IAC/Jack setup, you can point orca to it, like Midi > Input > LoopMidi Out, and in Reaper, listen from incoming midi via LoopMidi In.

Let me know if you need further help!

yes I’m on OSX (sorry for not specifying) – didn’t know about IAC Driver so you said the magic word  I was able to figure it out from there, thanks so much for your quick help!

Yeah, I’m currently back to electron version.

Btw: a friend of mine is doing an orca introduction on our monthly modular meet-up in Copenhagen :notes:

I’m about to order a similar setup, can I ask you which version of the Pi 4 you bought (1, 2, 4 GB RAM)?

Get the faster one possible if you want to run the electron build, otherwise the C build runs even on the pi zero.

Would you consider setting up some kind of remote attendance or livestream? As much as I’d love to come to Montreal. Option C is to have one in Denver.

I can’t really setup a livestream, but we will record/edit it in a way that it can be shared on youtube

I got 2GB one as 4GB were out of stock at the time. I am using only fraction of memory looking at task manager.

i’m not getting any midi out? running hallo.orca on High Sierra, having built from source… it flashes up that it’s using IAC Bus 1, at the start then it seems to turn into a row of dots, is this correct? when it is then playing, nothing seems to be coming into ableton on that midi bus, any channel…
