Hi, sorry to post this after asking in the chat, but I haven’t gotten a response.

Could anyone help me with making the client transparent? I’ve replaced backgroundColor: '#000', with transparent:true, in main.js, and turned off the background-color tag in the console, but all that happens is the background turns white. I’m on macOS Mojave.

I’ve had that issue before as well, once in a while it turns clear, once in a while it turns white. That’s why this feature is not in the main build.

Okay, I’ve had better luck with installing Orca-c… New issue: I select a midi device on open but sending a bang to midi note doesn’t seem to send midi? Getting closer though!

keep in mind - unfortunately Orca-c is a bit behind and does not have full feautre parity with the Electron version.

But… midi notes should work I think

Got sounds! This will do some of the job until I get the Electron version of Orca running.

hi guys, just installed Orca last night, and tried the tutorial a bit. it was fun!
however, i can’t seem to get separate voice on 2 different channel. i’m using mac, from Orca send midi using IAC midi to DAW (cubase).
for example i set 2 midi channel on orca,
:03C and :13E
and set 2 midi channel (1 and 2) on cubase with different sound. i get out the sound, but both channel playing the same both note C and E, not separately on each channel.
does anybody tried with different DAW besides ableton?

thanks

I’ve tried with Renoise and a few other midi software, I have never tried with Cubase tho. Are you use that you’re listening to these specific channels, and not all channels? It sounds like a Cubase related error.

yes i’m sure using a specific channel, in this case channel 1 and 2 instead of ‘any’ from the dropdown menu on the midi channel.
i don’t know if this related, but on mac - utility - audio midi setup, there’s an option on the IAC midi setup window to choose how many midi channel, but its default to 1, and i can’t change that.

after digging a little bit about this, apparently indeed there’s an cubase issue about this. can’t specify which midi port from IAC, so either its in ‘all midi input’ or not :sleepy: one of the tech guy said, you had to modify the preferences xml file, which i know nothing about it.

Just wanted to give a huge public thanks to @neauoire for such an amazing tool and @Allieway_Audio for the videos which taught me so much very fast.

Did my first ever livecoding performance last night with the livecode.nyc folks at Babycastles and it was a total blast, if anyone is ever in the NYC area they’re both definitely worth a check out <3 <3 <3

@indraperkasa Well, sorry to hear about that Cubase issue. You might be able to use a third party app that lets you route midi signal around. I’ll do some digging.

aaah! Amazing @mncmncmnc I’d love to hear it, do you know if it was recorded?

Just have little video snippets of this one (will see if I can collect a couple to send you), but next time will record for real for sure

just started looking at Orca this week. I’ve been using it with supercollider, it’s really fixed my gripes with handling sequencing(I just don’t like Pdef for some reason). Super cool piece of work, I can tell I’ll be digging into it for a while! I’m actually suddenly excited to get into live coding now, I’ve been really enjoying my accidental discoveries and feel like this is an interface I could really use in realtime.

Thanks for the hard work that has clearly been put into this, I’m excited to see where it goes from here!

Moved to Orca norns thread.

@kasselvania For the Norns port of Orca, use this thread.

Whoops! Thought that was it. They’re both titled similarly, got it mixed up.

Makenoise has this little Instagram t shirt contest they are doing where you use an unconventional means to control your 0 Coast and post it.

I can now proudly say that today’s accomplishment was to make Makenoise aware of ORCA! Hopefully I get a sweet t shirt too.

Nice! I’ve spent the last few weeks regularly spreading the gospel of ORCA as well!
