on linux i think a less “scripted down” solution is possible, maybe using a combination of a custom script, environmental variables and the dmenu program

I used to have a set list in the form of symlimks to “tracks” and load them with a script I wrote, running dialog to select next track…

If by rhythms you mean banging(*) values, then you could simply do something like this, you don’t need to manage the writing since bang will trigger the lowercase v itself.

..3Ug..5Uw..
.5v*..5v....
............
....1X......
.....V5.....

Your question sparked this conversation.

Amazing, thanks. I was using V, I realize now why v works.

What’s up with the 1X? I don’t see that adding anything…

It acts as a clear, it just makes sure there’s no sticky bang caught in the V output. You won’t notice it on OrcaC, but you’ll see it in OrcaJS. I’ll look into why OrcaC doesn’t have that issue actually, it should…

Ah, ok, thanks! I’ll leave it out and scratch my head later when/if I try to open this file in an updated orca

Ah! Okay, the orcaJS version was wrong, thanks for helping me spot this inconsistency  I will push a new electron/web build tonight.

Great, thanks, I’ll probably find something else to scratch my head over

You don’t need the 1X, in the example above, it was a quickfix for something that shouldn’t have been happening in the first place

Got it :+1: 20 chars of thankfulness

Hi,
I just installed Orca - just trying to load the examples in the tutorial directory.
Followed these intructions …
"to get started, open Orca and press CmdOrCtrl+L to load the files found in this directory, then press CmdOrCtrl+B and write inject:begin, and press enter.

You should see 3 lines at the top of your files, to load a slide, locate the $in:slide0 text, move your cursor onto the $(commander) operator and press enter. To navigate to another slide, change the value to $in:slide1, and activate the commander operator once more.
But it only loads the first slide and I cannot load the subsequent slides … not sure what I’m doing wrong.
I’m on windows 10
Any help much appreciated!

Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

How are you loading the next slide? Once you’ve imported the other slides, and changed the value to $in:slide1, and pressed enter on the $ character. What happens? Do you see any errors in the inspector?

Ok got it now - sorry was not loading each slide first.
Thanks

I had a questing about controlling CCs with Orca but figured it out as I was writing. Yay!

Thanks for the example. Out of interest is there a way to copy paste the example code into orca?

Select, copy, paste should work on both orcaJS and orcaC.

Strange - sure I tried that … Works as expected now! Sorry about that - not sure what I was doing before…
Thanks again!

Quick question - How do I pause just a section of my patch. Say I select one or two operations using the selection tools ctrl+shift etc … then I just want to pause that section of the patch and leave the rest running?

Oh OK "Toggle Block Comment… CmdOrCtrl+/ " helped by ezbot ( youtube channel - thanks man). I was looking for pause/freeze etc.

Couldn’t get copy paste to work, I’ll give it a go again, might be the terminal (xterm) thats blocking it.

Which terminal (Linux) do people use with orca and do you have copy/paste working?
