I mean, you’ve got UDP and I’m sure by now it’s turing complete, so technically anything is possible, but something worth using? I’m not sure. I could see some potential in it for general networking though, like packet routing or job control. I think the biggest inhibitor to it being used for general purpose code is it’s clock’s higher limit- if you could crank the clock to stupid speeds (Mind you I haven’t tried and I’m not very good with ORCΛ yet anyhow) you may be able to do more esoteric things

I’m not sure I understand, you do know that you can run Orca at like 30’000 BPM and basically do DSP?

The operator on 10,3 responds to all of the bangs from D however the operator on 11,8 does nothing no matter how it receives a bang. Am I missing something here?

I doubled checked other files I’ve made and they appear to work just fine.

Thank you for the help!

Could paste the code here inside of a code block(triple backticks) so I can test it?

  • Are you getting any error in the console? cmd.

Numbers are not valid midi notes.
You can convert a number into a note by with (add num 'a'), like:

...RG..
D4.6AA.
.:03G..

I can’t believe I missed that one… Great, I’ll give it a try now.

Thank you for the guidance.

Very very newbie question: I’ve just started Orca for the first time and it says No midi. Even refreshing the device list does nothing. What am I supposed to do? (sorry)

EDIT: found the answer in the tutorial. Sorry again.

hey @AlessandroBonino! Glad you fixed your problem.
I have accidentally pushed a version of Orca in which Midi did not work properly, about the same time you must have downloaded your copy. Did you get builds or are you building orca yourself? If MIDI doesn’t seem to work, just download a new copy

I got the build and it does emit sound in plugins at the moment, so no problem!

Little bug i think, i have difficulties to switch to loopMIDI in MIDI, i have to select NO OUTPUT first in order to select it.

Ah! Yes, you’re the second one to mention this issue.
I will look into it.

Hey There…
Just got Orca and tried to set it up to my IAC…
When i open it shows the iac output for a second but then it dissapears…
Any tips ?

@Goldberg That’s normal, it only displays it for 10 frames, if you wanna see it again, press cmd+shift+n, that will reset the frame count and show it again for 10 frames.

I have fixed the Midi Selection issue and pushed new builds and version to /master on the repository! I hope these works for you. I have also improved various other things. Enjoy

Is it not possible to set the bpm slower than 60bpm?

It’s locked in the build at the moment, if you’ve seen videos of people with very low or very high BPMs, they’ve modified it in clock.js — The speed is currently locked from 60, to 300, to limit accidents.

ok. thanks for confirming. what do you mean by “accidents?” do i need to sign a waiver if i modify clock.js?
