I still haven’t tested this. Have you done the lower cases in the Norns app?

Has anybody tried connecting a wireless keyboard and Bluetooth nub to run this? It would be nice to eliminate a wire from my whole setup.

Not sure the bt keyboard shows up the same way as wired.

Maybe I should test that

(@kasselvania you should have bt already on pi - no nub required)

Of course! It didn’t dawn on me that the capability is already built in to the Pi. The question would be how to get the Norns to pick that up… I guess this could be applied to certain game pads like my Bluetooth 8bitdo.

took me awhile to get my keyboard to connect (kind of a pain the BT on pi)

If I remember correctly - none of this BT stuff will work without some changes to device_monitor.c since norns is only looking at the USB subsystem.

If I have norns hacking time this week I’ll see if there’s any progress I can make on hacking this (but don’t hold your breath)

Hah, no worries. I’ll take a look around. Might be worth asking in the Norns: Help area too. I know the connecting of Bluetooth through terminal can be a pain (especially with so many dang Bluetooth devices around clogging up the list of nearby devices). It would be a pretty cool but EXTREMELY NICHE thing to get Bluetooth working on norns considering that the DIY Norns Hat and FATES would be the only devices currently able to make use of it. Either way, it would just be so nice to have another method of connecting devices besides the measly 4 USB’s

Poking around on amazon, I’ve found this potential option of all I want is the elimination of wires when using ORCA

While in its own right, this is an intelligent answer to the problem, it could be one. For now, I’ll let sleeping dogs lie and not get too picky. Its wild and exciting that ORCA is on norns. I don’t need to stone myself crazy about wires.

would love to see some i2c crow support menu options / outputs (similar to Less concepts) so i could use Orca via crow to the er301 or Just Friends

that would be cool for sure, maybe someone with crow could take a peek?

I go into using Orca as a bastardized Octatrack in this vid. 4:30 is where the tech stuff begins:

That was excellent @dudadius!!

Thanks, Devine! It’s your little world you create, I’m just a traveller in it.

This implementation is really incredible. It makes me realize how little I’ve really tapped into the potential of this mind blowing app. Really enjoyed the video.

Unrelatedly, it also reinvigorated the idea of moving to Chicago.

Hey, I really appreciate that! Chicago is awesome. Yes, winter will make you question that statement, but it’s really only a few days that are stupid, and a proper down coat will go a long way!

finally got around to trying this out …
I think I understand the basics (perhaps not) but Im not getting sound out of timbre.

can someone just help me get that first step…
so I loaded up some samples in the param setting (using load folder)
then tried to do the following

.D.....
.'01090

I can see D, appears to be sending a bang… and I thought ’ should trigger timbre,
but Im not getting any sound out :frowning:

(Id watch some more youtube videos on orca, but YouTube appears to be having issues at the moment!)

EDIT: k, youtube back… now I can see i misremembered…

so bangs has to be right, so simplest patch is

.D.....
..'....

or

.D.....
..'14C.0

not sure how you change level, 9 seems very quiet

So, with the volume, if I remember correctly, z is the highest value and it is also the default value. So, if you just designate the first three values (Sample, Octave, Note) you will get your sample playing. If I remember correctly about the order…

Also, I believe Octave 5 is to play the sample at the original value. It used to be 3…? Might have reversed that.

@its_your_bedtime its been i while since i’ve been on Orca but i can’t seem to get any sound when banging the timber engine ( Orca is v0.9.9.9) and Timber (v1.0.0 beta 5) and Norns 191028. It seems like something is muted somewhere but i can’t find were.

I have the same problem.
I used Fates to create my first Orca project, but I can’t produce sound.
