Change Orcacrow to orca

It’ll show up on your norns as

Orcacrow/orca

The folders should be different names, but the script should just be orca, otherwise the libs don’t connect properly

Did that too, still I got the same error

Hmmmm… let me check mine in a few and get back to you.

Did you change the lua file’s name or the folder?

I have the folder named orcacrow and the lua file named orca.lua

As well, look in the data folder. The names there might also ned to be the same.

I would recommend using Terminal to properly install the crow fork.

$ cd dust/code
$ git clone https://github.com/CoolLeRue/orca.git orcacrow

this will create an “orcacrow” folder and within Norns UI you’ll see both the original “orca” and “orcacrow” and should work without issue.

Thank you @kasselvania and @Frederickk for your help (and patience), I got it working now with the terminal suggestion!

Any progress on this? Just got a bluetooth keyboard and I agree that being able to have a wireless keyboard for orca would rule!

I believe this has kinda come to a halt. I’m pretty bad with programming (aka; downright useless) and I hoped the expanding world of scriptures getting in to the FATES would open up new avenues. But for now, I believe we’re going to be using wired keyboards for the foreseeable future.

Or usb bluetooth receiver nubs?

That’s not the problem. BT devices will connect to the pi, but norns won’t be able to use them because it’s currently only looking at the USB subsystem.

Edit - OOPs I read that wrong. Yes - a BT keyboard that uses a nub should work because it should just show up as a regular USB HID keyboard then, (I think)?

Hey :slight_smile: noob here. I`m having a little trouble sending midi cc. I used the line !119 and it sends to channel 1 knob 1 and value 125. how do i set it to send another CC.nr. like 50 or 52. I tried different values from 0-9 and a-z and max value i reached is 39. I read about commands and something like cc:0 so i set offset to 0. but how do I write commands? I am on Norns.
Thanks.

Beginner question:
In Orca you can select/highlight a rectangle and press Control Slash to mute/unmute. How do you do this in Norms Orca?

I tried doing the same but it didn’t work.

EDIT: Or, in other words, how do you mute/unmute sections easily?

I have not yet found how to mute/unmute sections. Maybe this is not posible to do with Norms Orca.

Can someone help me, please?

I’m guessing this is not available. The norns version of ORCA is a passion project by the creator and was done somewhere arounf v0.4 of ORCA. There’s probably MUCH that isn’t available in the norns version that the more “official” versions have.

Here is a possible work around, it does not do the same thing, but it can accomplish a similar result in practice.

I usually add 2 columns of # to the far left of orca on norns. Then I can select a section of one column as many rows long as I need, copy, then past near the section I want muted. This does work left to right, so you have to be more conscious of cell layout left to right.

Ok. Not a problem. The Norns version of ORCA is great, and the addition of samples too.

Thanks for the advice. I will try it.

The real joy comes with using softcut operators. Real amazing.

My fork of the original Norns port of Orca has a WIP branch that is more on par with the current state of the primary Orca codebase. Work has kept me busy these past weeks, but I’m hoping to finalize and post here soon.

That’d be sick! Just as a point of order, I’m thrilled with where ORCA is now and anything else is icing on the cake. It’s really impressive! Just feel like letting folks know what the deal is when they come expecting something from it and it’s not in this version.

Btw, will your version include the crow and HF support some folks added? I could send you a version someone shared with me with that ability.
