Copying and pasting totally works! Make selections by holding shift while navigating with arrows.

Commenting out selected sections does not work, but you can copy/paste columns of # to sort of work around it.

I tried holding shift but didn’t see any visuals for selection? Also which is the hotkey for it?

it’s Ctrl, like a windows box, Ctrl+X Ctrl+V Ctrl+C

Yes, and you can copy paste it to store elsewhere, outside ORCĪ› – it’s just text.

I am running the C99 version of ORCĪ› on RaspberryPi outside of Norns in a terminal session over SSH.

Please help me understand the ā€œ/ā€ operator.
How do I record a loop with it and how do I play it back? All I get is clicks. Is it possible to overdub?
How do I know which letter corresponds to which speed?

can’t remember where I got this, just had to go play with it to remember.

playhead is channel 1, 2, or 3. you can layer them at different speeds.
rec is record level, this will go from 1-9 and then ā€˜a-z’ with ā€˜zā€˜ being the most gain. try ā€˜r’ to start.
play is whether it plays forward (1) or reverse (2).
level is playback level.
rate is what rate the playback is at, modulating this creates interesting effects, 1-9/a-z with ā€˜z’ being fastest.
position is where the playback starts, I think the values are also 1-9/a-z with ā€˜z’ being the last position, maybe someone can confirm.

Is anyone working on other input methods than the (computer) keyboard for norns ORCĪ›, such as directly on the norns or MIDI?

I believe that there is a branch of @TanSaturn’s that allows for norns encoder input to change operators.

There are also operators to allow for grid and midi cc input to control variables.

Oh yeah. I think I got that from @Frederickk’s branch

Oy! I dropped the ball on making Orca updates. I should tidy up my branches and release them.

Ooh this is cool, thanks to the above comments and above all @Frederickk’s good work, I’ve now got encoder input on norns. Working fine, and I am just generally really, really confused – which I guess is the intended state of mind when dealing with ORCĪ›. This would be great to get merged into the main norns orca repo, I think.

Oh yeah I meant to ask @Frederickk which of your branches is wisest to follow which include the encoder input.

And also where can I vote for these to be merged upstream, or maybe help with testing and review? Esp this encoder input feature opens norns ORCĪ› to a wider audience by removing need for gear. We salute you.

@xmacex I finally took a moment to merge all of my various branches plus @TanSaturn Crow and UI contributions. I’ve asked her to look at my updates to confirm my porting over of her work still functions appropriately. Stay tuned for updates soon!

I would like to ask for some help. I have been noticing rather pronounced stuttering in my Norns orca projects. I am coming from using orca-c and before that on my laptop and I never experienced such an issue. Here is a video demonstrating the stuttering, https://youtu.be/klSzker-dNQ. Any ideas as to what I can do to fix would be appreciated.

How are you powering the unit?

I am powering with a 5v 3.4 power brick. I wondered if this might be the issue and have tried different power bricks and gotten the same result. Is there a specific power solution that would be best?
