Try a wall wart and not battery? The key is to use one with the highest current rating you can. ~2.5A.

I am not using a battery power bank I am using a plug into the wall power brick, or a ā€œwall wartā€ as I just learned they could be called.

First post, I am having a blast with my norns, but I really got it because I love Orca. When I installed orca through maiden and try to load get a ā€œerror: load failā€ message. I’m still learning how to navigate this community, and I apologize if there is something easy I should have found by search (which I think I’ve done?), but can I get some help? I’ve updated to the current norns version. If the answer is somewhere in the comments above, I’ve spent a good deal of time looking before I posted this I promise.

Also, I’m an avid Orca desktop user and can’t wait to play with it away from my computer! Here’s a small jam I while exploring chromatic multi octave stuff: https://www.dropbox.com/s/aj77qrxmuljcz0a/10-30-20.mp4?dl=0

Have you downloaded timber before downloading Orca?

That was it. Also, I now see that it clearly says Timber is required… Thank you!

I’ve hooked Orca up to the Deluge over standard midi (through a mio interface), and it is behaving as though orca isn’t sending out note off messages. It is working wonderfully with kits/samples, but the synth engines go berserk. Anyone have any ideas about what’s up?

Also, I’m dying to get the ā€œofficialā€ release @Frederickk has been talking about above. I’ve been having a great time with the dev release with the engines in it. It actually inspired me to make a minimal setup away from my computer for the first time in a while. Thank you for all your contributions!

Right after I sent that, I realized I hadn’t tried the ā€œofficialā€ release with midi out. Everything is working fine in that version, so maybe this is a bug report on the engine integration version? Still thanks!

@mtreanor yeah, the engines branch is about 85% ready for primetime. Aside from engine bugs, @TanSaturn and I are working to ensure I didn’t screw up any Crow implementations in my merge. Stay tuned for just a touch longer while I stabilize for release.

I need to do a little more testing, but the crow stuff is looking good. I am getting a bug where playback stops when I use the $ operator. I get the same problem in my branch. Does anyone else see this?

Hello all, I am a bit confused. Because text goes Left to Right Seems like most of my code logically goes east.

For example

.C…D1
.8C.*H
…22GE.

With the following bangs catching the note

:04Df.
:04Ef.
:04Df.
:04Df.
:04Df.
:04Gf.
:04Df.

How might I make this logically go North or West or South.
I want something that will function more like a Rene sequence that is cartesian in nature.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated !

@eyeiaye this thread is mostly for technical issues/suggestions with the Norns version of Orca, your question is general and should go in the main Orca thread. I’ll answer it here, but feel free to continue on the other one.

Thanks so much. Will move to the other category. Also thanks so much for answering my question. Now I can get my head around it

I’ve been through this thread a couple times, and can’t seem to see if there is a frame reset option anywhere. Any chance we can get this option in an update?

Hello dears, I’m trying to expand this amazing sequencer.
I’m doing minor modifications to the orca ops to close them to my workflow.
For example there is a slow counter which resets every 64, there is a write operator which offsets to upper left, there is a counter which counts linearly around 2 numbers and so on, some little features.
I implemented also the new round bracket operator ā€œ(ā€ which reads ARC encoders position.

OH WOW! Do you have a link to your github branch? I’ve got some time off from work coming up and would like to spend some of it playing with this!

What happened to the plans of merging the branches making a ā€˜super-ORCA’? I was really looking forward to it as the one in Maiden doesn’t really have all the bells and whistles of @Frederickk and @TanSaturn s branches.

I think @Frederickk is on that. I know that one of my ops replaces one of the osc ops so I should change that. My testing has been good with my stuff merged in otherwise. I’m still interested to hear if anyone else is encountering the $ I mentioned in an earlier post. I need to retest that on my end too since there have been a few fates/Norns update since I last looked. I will be able to dedicate a bit more time to this on my upcoming vacation as well.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help out with testing. Would love to be able to offer on coding but my lua is extremely basic. I’ll check the $ tomorrow (stock Norns/latest FW. I will also have a shield end of the week to cross test on. Is it your branch or all branches that might have an issue with $?
