Yep, that was it. Fixed. Thanks @Leverkusen

really lovely - could you describe how the sequence is generated? multiple scales, i assume?

Scales are all pent major, the middle two add a B. I randomly generated matrix 1 snapshots and just toggled between them. It just sounds (thanks to you!) like I am doing something fancy

Does Ansible need a backpack to send i2c to
ER-301/JF?

yes, an i2c backpack or something else that would provide power and pullup resistors to the i2c bus, like a TXb module. see this for more info: https://github.com/scanner-darkly/polyearthsea/wiki/i2c-set-up

anyone out there using OHM with their er-301?
really curious what people doing with those two!

i’ve got some examples on my instagram 1 2 3 4 5

i have a couple of patches set up for this purpose, one with piano samples and one with music box samples. the patches are pretty simple: 8 mixer units, each one contains a variable playback sampler unit and a VCA. SC.TR units 1-8 are assigned to trigger playback and SC.CV 1-8 are assigned to speed.

VCAs are controlled by SC.CV 17-24 - you don’t really need them but if you add them you can take advantage of the volume control and automation (and you don’t have to always assign these to volume - it could be fun controlling other parameters, sample start / filter cutoff etc)

these are some lovely examples thank you for sharing. seems like there are a lot of possibilities between the 2 via ansible. congratulations, looking forward to diving in!

I finally started to take a look at Orca’s Heart installed on my Teletype and I’m a bit lost.

My first problem is that the i2c stuff is not working as expected but with original Teletype firmware installed I have no problem communicating between devices on i2c. Teletype is leader and talks with JF, ER-301, TXo, TXi, W/, Ansible fine. – One page of instructions says the i2c configuration is in the second row while a graphic shows them in the right column.

The graphics I see above which seem recent are not exactly those in the Wiki so I’m not certain what I should reference.

I’ve watched the short Instagram videos but those are from the perspective of everything running and act as great examples of what things might sound like in a working configuration but I can’t get past much at all.

At this moment I feel extraordinarily dumb and old so I’m putting out a request to see if anyone can explain this from the point of turning my synth on and then tell me how to approach this as though I’m 5 years old.

apologies - looks like the instructions on that page weren’t updated indeed. fixed now, added the diagram to that page as well.

@scanner_darkly did the teletype sync function get implemented so far?
Thanks!

just to make sure, you mean having a teletype op to send a clock to orca’s heart? unfortunately, in the last couple of months had zero time for coding as i was going through the hell of painting my apartment. just got back to OH last week and i’m refactoring it so will be a while before a new version.

if you use it on a module with a trigger input (like ww or ansible) you could just use a trigger output on teletype and sync it that way as a workaround.

thanks for the reply @scanner_darkly
Yes i meant running orcas hearth on teletype, and having it synced to an external clock. I think i read it was a future feature?
Good luck with the painting!
cheers

edit: confirmed it does work that way and updated the doc.

patch a clock source to trigger input 1. you will also want to turn off the internal clock (since teletype doesn’t detect when something is patched to trigger inputs), you can do it on the delays page, 3rd button from the top in the rightmost column. although leaving it on when using an external clock can make for some interesting irregular rhythms too!

Thanks @scanner_darkly sorry i did not have the time to test yesterday, it’s great news to know the teletype can be clocked! it’s makes it very usable in an environment!
gracias

Diving into OH again, so inspiring. Here’s a noodles from today - OH sequencing JF/Rings (fm op mode)/Plaits (granular cloud mode AUX out (sines) into wavefolder) and Plonk (bass). Little bit of 33rpm wow from Gigahertz Wow VST and room reverb from Valhalla.

sounds lovely, thank you for posting it!

Hi @scanner_darkly orcas heart has already taken over on of my ansibles and one teletype!
What a great script!
Any new on implementing wave changing of the connected txo?
Many thanks!

thank you! nothing new i’m afraid - i’m still in the middle of a big re-write (basically rewriting orca’s heart from scratch, with the goal of re-using the same code for different platforms), and that got delayed by various things. not sure yet whether support of txo waveforms and additional sound parameters is something i’ll add to the existing version or the new one.

i am planning a small update to the existing version soon though, so will consider this!
