Hi I would love to keep a separate thread if possible of course for organelle M

i have of both a Norns and an M but i am going to Roll out a set of Organelle M exclusive patches that listen or are extensions to/of what i want to do presently with Norns. Currently that is related to receiving midi from less_concepts and i am having wonderful luck

So i am hopeful to connect with a few folks on here that might have one [Organelle M] and might be interested in connecting the two as effects unit, sequencer, midi slave etc…

Are there any lines users besides moi with an “M”?

curious what makes a patch “m exclusive”?

I have both! (But due to some unexpected events I haven’t been able to use the OM yet)

the patch it too demanding to run on the first model.
A bunch of externals by Chris Penrose/Eric Lyon (fftease) and Lyon Potpourri have some pretty cool FFT obviously from the namesake and interesting PVOC stuff that just crashed the other one

Also a bunch of other stuff runs way better now that there’s some overhead, less clicks or whine’s when loading stuff. So far what i have working is a soundfont player that loads some really fancy soundfonts from the ancient days and sound amazing on the organelle and even better when it’s getting it’s midi from Norns being controlled by grids – works really nice
there apparently were some very fancy soundfonts back in the day that do not sound 'midi-ish"

If I understand correctly the Organelle m has a different (faster) processor and runs a version of raspbian (I think?). Organelle OG runs arch. Files on the OG were initially run from USB stick but Organelle M uses the internal SD card for storage out of the box. So there’s some differences in case sensitivity and directory structure apart from processor demand.

it’s about 5-10 time faster than the first one with the changes squim mentions
i would love a few beta testers that are a little familiar with pure data and not just hunting free patches
on the C&G forum there are a bunch of folks who simply see organelle as “free patches” and i certainly understand that but i guess i am hopeful for a few more experienced users with an “M”

I’ve got an M but have yet to fully dive in and use it to anywhere near its potential, so I have no worthwhile ideas just yet of interconnecting besides using the M as an effects processor. But I just wanted to chime in to say, yes, I am behind vous.

EDIT—my PD skills are atrocious, so I’m not a candidate for the beta testing. Love to see what you come up with, though. (Part of my 2020 goals is to improve my PD chops.)

thanks for weighing in though

I used to really get down with PD I’ve still got a patch that was my favorite that I made that I would like to port up to something like the new standalone device at some point

I don’t have an organelle (any version) though

I do own an M. and a Norns. I more or less don’t use them though, but I could be interested to help. I have basic PD skills.

MOrganellist here, hopefully Nornsist in few months

Organelle M runs the same CM3 that’s in Norns, and indeeds runs a modified (stripped down/tuned) version of raspbian.
Organelle-1 runs a SolidRun imx6 soc, single core … though its possible to swap it for a quad  and runs arch linux.

from a programming/patching perspective:
its little more powerful than the Organelle-1 if you only use a single core, but if you make it things multi-core, we obviously get a 4x boost… the other different is memory, as it has twice the RAM.
(also cm3 is 64 bit)

both organelle-1 and organelle-m can run patches from sd card or usb.

norns + organelle-m
Ive explored this a little, more from the UI side…
I like Norns (fates in my case) for the larger display and encoders, but using the organelle for its keyboard, and being self contained.

so what I did was…
run the Orac on the Organelle, but run the Orac UI (MEC) on the norns…
so i could play the organelle keyboard, but have the larger display and encoders of norns.

it worked well , if a bit ‘bulky’, but obviously under-utilised norns…
what I want to do is to extend the Orac UI (MEC) to support multiple instances of Orac, so it could be running on both Norns and Organelle but controlled thru the same UI (running on Norns)

What is involved with changing the processor? That would be interesting. I’ve paired my organelle m with Norns with Norns handling interesting sequencing with “less concepts” and using Norns for easier access for the organelle using the Grids and arc and connecting through two with midi.

I’m about 60% through the first set of new M patches most recently fixing up Katja Vetters slice jockey

Just ordered an Organelle M, very exited for the possiblilites.

Wondering if anyone had used one with a FH-1 or FH-2? And if that would work direct with USB?

And if anyone had used it to sequence eurorack in general?
Cheers

The FH-1 worked well for me bwhen i got into Expert Sleepers stuff
i used it with the LaunCh Control for a step sequencer and an insane amount of LFOs

Thanks.
Really interested in usage with Organelle in particular.
Did you use it with Organelle?

What I’m interested in using some of the Organelle sequencers to also sequence my modular.

i think Context Sequencer might be a good candidate

Hi,

I am in the process of buying a used organelle m and just wanted to check something. The seller says the line in and line out are marked wrong so that what is printed line in is actually line out. Is this a common thing or just a weird unit?

Thankful if someone can check theirs!

That seems really weird. I would check that with C&G first.
