do you have PARAMETERS > SOFTCUT > input engine turned up ? I should probably mention this in the docs (or better, turn it up in code)

that fixed it, thank you!

@andrew
exploring noiz with this script last night.
very very cool!
really dig all of the visuals!

i ran into a couple of issues but i think it was just warping the controls all at once.

one thing that was kinda tricky…the overdub feature.
i REALLY dig that you can keep layering in the patterns of the controls.
getting it into overdub mode was kinda hit or miss. :stuck_out_tongue:
small request…would it be possible to have a graphic representation for the pattern recording?
maybe a small line moving across the bottom?

anyhow…
here’s the noiz session with help from Cheat Codes 2 and Glitchlets.
additional noiz help from M8 Dirtywave, several Volcas, Buchla 208c, Plumbutter 2, Cocoquantus and an Mbase11.

Hands down my favorite norns synth I’ve ever heard. Awesome job, my friend!
I crashed it when turning dust up. Just a little bug report

edit: actually, even after resetting norns, it seems to be crashing immediately when I play a note. Even other scripts don’t work, though there’s nothing of note in the SC repl. I’ll try reinstalling. (fates 3b)

edit 2: found the errors, maybe:

Gorgeous! After a year of trying various synths, including modular and a bunch of hardware, just finally made a little piece of music that made me smile. Thank you so much.

can you try hitting the reset param and see if it cooperates again ? it might just be loading up with the same danger settings since all params persist between sessions. if that doesnt do it then maybe a SYSTEM > RESTART ?

ok that sounds like something is quite bonked in SC, hopefully RESTART clears it up (might not be related to fx settings)

Yeah, that was it - I had to manually delete the pset via ssh. I reproduced it by pushing the distortion parameters to extremes. Otherwise, no crashes yet!

i mean, seconded strongly, but also maybe one of my favorite synths period lol. i was pondering model:cycles but just committed myself to a depth year so i had put the thought out of my head… but uh this feels like it fills all the remaining sound generating gaps in my set up with those sweet sweet digital tones… having so much fun using different loopers and delays after it… ct5, thyme, orgnwrms into both of them… or distortion pedals… what a beautiful thing u’ve made @andrew flexible but with its own character and charm. this is one im going to learn deeply

feeling humbled @karateisland @renegog @zbs /all <3

not sure if I’ll be using orgn much after 4 years of searching for it but it’s comforting to know it’ll be getting some love

Agreed with what’s been said. This synth is the cats pajamas!

I’ve been really into japanese ambient and obscure bits off of ghibli soundtracks lately

I wasn’t really expecting to get many dx7 or full featured yamha like sounds out of orgn since it has a tiny fraction of the number of controls available but with some of the late stage features (ratio, detune, span) I’ve been suprised how close I can get to some of those vibes

orgn-03.pset (1.1 KB)

orgn-05.pset (1.2 KB)

Wait… It has a phrase looper!?! How am I supposed to stop playing and go to bed when I just found the phrase looper!?

This looks amazing! As an avid user and lover of those portasounds (especially the pss-480), this will be extremely fun to use! Also with the fx and looper! Wow, thank you.

Got some super nice sounds out of this wonderful script yesterday!
Can someone expand a little bit on what the top 2 rows on the grid do?
I’m sure it’s me (it’s always me), but I can’t see anything in the docs that clearly explain what they are/do. There’s a brief moment in the video where the top 2 rows are alluded to , and something about “pitch” pops up the screen, but I don’t really understand it. Sorry.
Also, the diagrams of the grid in the docs don’t make sense to me. In one the patterns are on the far right side, vertically. In the other there are only 2 patterns buttons and they are horizontal. I’m sure that’s perfectly logical to everyone else, but not my stoopid fucking brain. Again, sorry.

This must be a pitch for the flash crash events

@ampism top rows are operator ratios for B and C

The other grid is for the 64 button version

This look incredible!!

Ah! ok. See, told you I was stoopid.
Thanks @Blit

cannot stop messing with orgnwrms…. it’s just an endless combo of amazing things. especially with some extra keys or guitar on the input! one question. how do i change the scales in orgnwrms? it’s super straight forward in orgn…. i can change the root… but can’t find a way to change out of major pentatonic?? thanks for an amazing noise machine!

visual inspection of SC engine and supporting classes suggest a number of technical issues that i’d guess would be heavily impacting performance and stability. if you are interested in getting that kind of review, i can write it up (this might not be the best place.)
