on a 64grid, looking at the orgn page, when I hold down K1 to change scales I am not able to select “B” as the root of the scale because that button swaps the screen to wrms instead.

I’m getting “load Error” - I’m on the updated Norns with an old monobright 64 grid.

So, if you are running 220306 or newer which was the update you had to do manually and norns is up to date, I would remove any old versions first, then reinstall, restart and it should work. Hope it helps.
I think that the message “up to date” might still show up if you are on an older version.

Not sure what the tune error means. But I tried to explain that you might in fact not be up to date.

" To see which version of the norns software you’re running, navigate to the SELECT / SYSTEM / SLEEP menu and hit K2 to toggle the informational display. Software version is listed on mid-right of your screen, under the currently-running script’s name.

If you are running anything earlier than 220306 (March 06 2022), be sure to perform a backup and follow the fresh install instructions instructions to get the necessary norns software installed on your device."

In addition to what @doomglue said, you could try to uninstall the 3 scripts completely (orgn, wrms and orgnwrms) and then restart your norns. I had similar missing include errors after updating the scripts, but removing/installing them back fixed it for me.

The fourth one is especially beautiful. I just played it back at .25 speed and despite the aliasing, it sounded GREAT too!

Can’t stop thinking about how fun it would be to combine other scripts like this. A while back i did this piece with a bed of the Twine script underneath.

Imagine being able to ping into the twine script while playing ORGN, record a snippet of the ORGN audio and start it doing it’s sample/hold thing, all from within one script.

New favourite script here I think. I’m wondering if I missed a possible midi out for the
Orgn?
I’d love to control a synth with Orgn keyboard and bring it back into the wrms. But also I love Orgn as well. Can’t believe I waited so long to give all of this a go. Well done @andrew

you’d be missing the pattern recording but this mod is really handy for controlling external synths and recording them into norns loopers like wrms

i can make you a midi grid keyboard pattern looper thing if gridkeys doesn’t work - i have most of the guts worked out in a few libraries so it would be pretty quick to throw something together. just made myself a crow version today (!)

Oh this is greats. I’m just getting a bit of confidence together to give hacking Norns scripts a go and actually thought maybe something like this might work. I’ll get into it time permitting.

@andrew Thanks for the reply. Do you mean amending the script so it’s switchable between the internal synth or midi control of external devices?

This combo is so good, hadn’t played with it for a while and the additional stability and wrms controls added in the update are phenomenal. I could sit with this for hours.

Definitely a desert island combo. I feel like I could (and likely will) record an album using this and possibly a field recorder to add a few other textures straight to norns tape.

I believe that you need to do the hard firmware update to the most recent norns disk image. If you are updating from V1 of orgnwrms it is also suggested that you delete and reinstall the script rather than updating.

Thank you for this lovely script. I have two questions:

Without a grid: how do you switch from wrms to orgn controls?
Any way to make it work with midigrid? Adding the usual line of code results in an error message after starting the script.

could you share the edit you made to the code as well as the error message printing to maiden ?

i’m aiming to support midigrid with the usual code edit but i don’t have any hardware to test.

there isn’t a way to switch screens without grid, no, but all params from both scripts are editable/mappable. wrms already uses every possible combination of input on norns itself, so it’s sorta impossible to do a screen switch w/o external hardware

honestly a massive compliment ++ sounds like a really wonderful concept for an album

@yoyosandshoes i’ll be curious to hear if gridkeys ends up working well for you but, yes, since your comment i’ve been thinking of either doing a midi oriented script or (more likely) adding some additional output modes to orgn. it wasn’t the original intent for orgn to be a multi-thing but it might solve some problems for me as i keep doing the combo script thing (hint: i’m making more).

last night i learned that just friends sounds pretty wonderful with wrms, so…!
