Dumb question. Why don’t my app names match up with what’s in the docs?

There is a “simple names” edit of the firmware which is used on 4ROBOTS units. It also has the VOR function by long-pressing the up button

FWIW if you build your own firmware, there’s a #define in OC_options.h to change the naming.
I made a silly version that has a secret handshake to switch at runtime a while back, but flash was scarce, so…

still been having some mystery interference from my O_c, moved it to my other rack and things seem better so far so maybe my power supply on the other one was just overstretched

Does the frequency change when switching from screensaver to selection menu?
I had the same issue with mine and “solved” the problem by puttig the affected modules on one bus board and O_c on the other. At some point i had the impression the problem was also related to the position of the modules relative to each other (same row)?

It did seem to change according to what’s on the screen. Based info I found last time I looked into it I added a big filtering cap somewhere on the OLED but that didn’t seem to help. My power supplies are small DIY ones with only one bus each (one is a flying lead and the other just a bunch of pin header soldered to a stripboard) so I don’t have much options re: rearranging them. But yeah moving it from one case to another seems to have helped.

edit: also even tho the main interference noise is gone now it’s in the other case, I still get some small ground hum problem somehow related to the O_c when I patch the two cables together. need to experiment more

I was hoping for a simple mod like adding a filtering cap somewhere. i’m considering to switch to a new more shallow case. due to space limitations i won’t be able to install 2 seperate bus boards. Moving it around is not really a solution.
Does anyone have another idea to address this problem?

I’m likely going to build an o_C in 4U for a DIY Serge/CGS panel; I see that it’s pretty easy to mod the currently-available PCB for banana jacks, but I’m wondering if anyone has seen either and Eagle or KiCad file of the board? I can move stuff around myself if I can find one…
Edit: Found a PCB on Modular Addict!

Just a “Today I Learned” - Not sure if this is addressed in this long thread, but “Ornament and Crime” originates as a title in this essay: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ornament_and_Crime

Great reference and name for a module, if intended.

I don’t have anything concrete since a) to my knowledge it’s not been a commonly reported issue (*) and b) it’s not a single diagnosable issue, but rather interactions between module and power/bus. So I doubt any simple mod will help, other than improving the latter. And if there were such a mod, I’d vaguely assume someone selling them might have made it already (yeah, yeah, assumptions…)

It doesn’t help that some screens emit physical noise as well, some louder than others…

(*) Which admittedly isn’t saying much about how pervasive it is…

i wonder if this usb adapter would work with the niftycase from cre8? i ordered a micro o_C with hemispheres pre-loaded. the midi built into the case should probably work fine but it would be pretty cool to connect the micro usb port on the module to the usb port on the top here somehow

i was kind of hesitant to go with hemispheres, just because i’m always sort of anxious about messing up firmware updates with new gear ever since i bricked an old es-1 a while ago. but does anyone know if there is a hemispheres alternative to the euclidean trigger that outputs envelopes in Piqued, an alternative to the Harrington 1200 Rienmann generator, and an alternative to Quadraturia lfo?

From what i can tell from the documentation, there is a shift register, there are normal (quad?) asr and ad generators, there is the lower renz but i dont know if there are any other lfo/modulation options, which was my original reason for buying this until i found out it had branches, burst and a turing machine. i assume i’ll just have to switch back and forth between firmwares but the less i have to do that, the better in my case

i want to be able to use euclidean trigs, multiple lfos, and maybe the reinmann chord generator without reverting back to the original firmware if possible. really any way to send 4 independent trigs or clock signals at once as a sort of tempi/pnw replacement would be good

This document lists every algo in Hemisphere Suite. You are not going to find full-blown replacements for any of those apps on the OG O_C. I go back and forth between them quite often and it really is a simple and straightforward process, FWIW.

ah thats what i thought. alright thanks. i actually printed that out but haven’t read through the whole thing yet

One thing to keep in mind; your CV calibration holds across both modules! So, the change is not going to goof anything up!

I’m losing my mind a bit trying to get Hemisphere installed.

With Method A, “Program” and “Operation” seem to be greyed out in Teensy Loader no matter what I do.

With Method B, “Next” is greyed out on Teensyduino’s installer. I’ve triple checked its version + the Arduino IDE version, including reinstalling from the links posted earlier in this thread.

Anyone know what I could be missing?

Drop the hex file on the teensy loader, connect yout teensy to the computer, and it should load autonatically. If not press the auto button on the teensy loader and then press the phisical button on the teensy.
You should see a upload progress bar on the teensy loader showing you the process.
Hope this helps.

Are you positive your micro usb cable transmits both data and power?

The cable!! Success. Thank you so much.

It’s those pesky cables!!! Don’t know why I have any that are power only in the first place…

I had the same problem. Some of those mini USB cables don’t have a data line! You can’t really tell by looking at them.
