Hi! I have an 0_c and its been getting very little use with the OG firmware on my end. Am I dumb, or there is no way to save states on the OG firmware? Would be useful if so. Can hemispheres save its last state? My case is built for live performances and its tough to lose my settings (which is why I’ve been keeping out of my patches). Is this a RTFM moment? Thanks y’all :slight_smile:

On the original firmware, I think you long press the right encoder twice. Not at the modular at present, but it’s one of the encoders.

Ahh okay perfect, I’ll have to try that. Is it similar on Hemispheres? I haven’t tried it out yet.

It is the same save procedure on both the OG and Hemisphere firmware.

Each applet has a help screen. To access a help screen, double-click the Up or Down encoder button that corresponds to the hemisphere for which you’d like help. Pressing that button again will turn off the help screen. Pressing the opposite button will show the help screen for the other applet.

Both applets will continue to function normally, but “in the blind,” while a help screen is displayed.

One day I might have a case with 4 Distings and 2 O&C! :grin:

Im currently running 3 Hemispheres all in u_OCs and 1 original OC in 12u/120 hp, one on each row. :slight_smile:

Hemisphere Suite is a Eurorack module built on the Ornament and Crime hardware platform. Its primary purpose is to provide a large number of simple modular building blocks, or “applets.” Two of these may be selected and used at a time.

This topic is for the support of Hemisphere Suite users, and the curious. I’m a refugee from Muffwiggler, hoping that some of my user base will stumble upon me here, to continue old discussions or to start new ones.

O_C is a super utility model. Does just about everything. Wait, I take that back it does a lot in a range of things like CV generation, LFO and S&H, quantization and more. It some things that unique to itself, or hard to replicate in a single module. Some of the apps I haven’t used, they don’t interest me, or haven’t interested me yet. A couple apps I could use in almost every patch. It’s definitely worth having but may not be for everyone.

The menus are a little deep. I don’t think I’ve explored much of what’s there. Everything is super useful.

I wouldn’t call it a module built for live performance. You can’t really play it like an instrument like you can other modules. It’s got two knobs and hundreds of menu options. You also need other modules to make it useful.

Just talking about o_C makes me want to fire up the modular and play with it right now!

Welcome, @chysn! Happy to see Hemispheres discussion opened here :slight_smile: - I built one recently and am just exploring the possibilities!

I think Hemispheres deserves its own topic, it’s a pretty different thing from Ornament and Crime, despite being built on the same platform.

I have two o_C, one with hemispheres. They are both very different. The original has more depth and complexity but takes more effort. Hemisphere is quick and easy to apply, offering two apps at once makes it pretty flexible,

Yeah, I tend to see it as a separate module and that would give it more visibility (and perhaps that was the intention behind @chysn’s post, it can certainly be read that way).

As one of the original o_C devs I’d also be a bit adrift without muffwiggler (even if development has slowed, except for a few things in the pipeline). I’ve been lurking here but - for lack of better phrasing - it’s not entirely my scene.

I suspect it was merged by someone. I suspected as much and wanted to say I think this deserves its own topic. I hope this can be sorted out as I think this would be a great place for Hemispheres!

To pull a quote from one of my favorite movies, “Deserve’s got nothin’ to do with it.” It is a separate topic. So instead of running off to a subreddit, I just tried again, hoping that persistence pays off :slight_smile: The Hemisphere Suite Support topic is here, and hopefully this one can go back to being an Ornament and Crime topic.

This week I decided to dig in and use the shift register a bit (mostly I use quantermain). But so far I haven’t been able to get anything harmonically musical, or musically harmonic? Can confirm that oscillators are in tune and tracking well enough, and I’ve been trying a pentatonic scale to make it more harmonious. However I’m getting a lot of dissonant notes, especially running four oscillators. I’ve been just using the internal turing machine style cv source. Can anyone point me to an example patch that makes good use of the ASR? I have most utilities and sources available

CopierMaschine is one that I enjoy using. I often end up patching the stepped output from wogglebug to CV1 (CV source) and attenuate the signal either externally or with the o_C’s input gain. Then patch a trig source (e.g. a slow running euclidian sequence) in TR1. Let it run with 0V input until all CV outs output 0V then tune the oscillators to unison. This however is probably as far as you got yourself.

I try to keep the scale mask sparse. root note, minor third and fifth or minor seventh and thats about it. Also I never use all four oscillators simultaneously but rather three at the time and alternate which ones are used with a switch. The magic starts when all oscillators are modulated (e.g. wavefolding) from separate sources and are fed into separate filters. Apply slow modulation to the filter cutoff freq and finally reverb to taste.
