i fixed the bugs  i’ll tidy things up tomorrow and push an update

@sns i’ve addressed this in the coming update. the new behavior is such that Flip is the main control for tape direction. regardless of modulation, or speed scales, pressing flip will change directions. (speed scales will now respect the current tape direction when selecting speeds with the encoders.)

the encoder not allowing for reverse while using a speed scale is to be expected. (the encoders just cycle through the entries of the speed scale, so if none are negative numbers, then none will be in reverse. you can either extend the speed scales, adding in negatives or just use the flip button. i chose not to add to the speed scales to keep all speeds accessible from the 7 grid buttons.)

That makes total sense, i’ll add my own negative values! Thanks again, can’t wait to play with it

otis v2.2

  • new! - left and right envelope followers.
    * you’ll find the envelope followers in the params menu under the lfo shape parameters.
note: the envelope followers work differently depending on your audio routing setting.
    (audio routing/env follower explanation below)
  • change - the behavior of norns encoders on the play page has changed slightly.
    * if you are modulating speed, your encoders will control the lfo offset. allowing you to dial in your lfo offset without jumping back to the params menu.
  • fixes - there’s been a few bugs lurking around…
    * speed scales and modulations now respect the flip controls.
    * flip/skip/rec were all a bit wonky under modulation. should be better now. though, you will still lose manual control of these parameters when they’re selected as your lfo target.

envelope follower stuff

setting audio routing to in -> eng will provide the most intuitive envelope follower, your input amplitude will be the modulator.

with audio routing set to either in+cut->eng or cut->eng, your envelope follower will follow the amplitude of your softcut loop. (this isn’t really my design, just the way the amplitude polls on norns work. :person_shrugging: )

(while writing this i noticed that the envelope follower polarity setting in the params menu is flipped. + is - and vice versa. i’ll throw a fix at that tomorrow.)

tried updating it through maiden but it states that it’s the latest update. On the document page it says its v2.1…so am I missing something?

hmmmm, should say v2.2… maybe try uninstalling/reinstalling?

how did you update? through maiden? i’ve just uninstalled and reinstalled through maiden and it says v2.2

I also tried updating through Maiden yesterday and it was telling me it was up to date. Did an uninstall and reinstall and that cleared it up.

Hey Mat,

works now! I just reinstalled it. Usually I’d update via medien in “update all” or “update”

i’ve had that happen with other scripts before, where the update says “already up to date” not sure what causes it :person_shrugging: re-installing it usually clears it up for me.

env follower addition to this is soso good, really gets interesting when you bring in a signal and randomly scan through the parameters that it effects in the menu. so many variables w this script - the more you poke around and experiment the more fruitful it gets. tytyty

i’ve just pushed a couple bug fixes, one with modulating flip/skip/rec and a few small ui bugs. please update your copies of otis :cowboy_hat_face:

i’ve seen these too, i don’t think it’s anything to worry about. :person_shrugging: i started noticing it when i added the audio routing options. fwiw, i get the same print out from other scripts that offer audio routing options (like splnkr)

for what it’s worth (probably not much) i’ve never noticed any wackiness corresponding to these messages.
