Pages won't launch!

I am having a lot of trouble with Pages and Capitan. I can’t launch the .jar file. I click on it and it opens some java thing that only says “main” in the top bar and info about it says “java version 1.0”. But nothing happens.

Any thoughts? I updated java sometime ago and I think pages doesn’t play nice w/java 8.

open up a terminal session.
navigate to the location of the pages jar.
launch the jar from the command line. You will see the stderr and stdout in the terminal window. this should provide some starting point to troubleshoot.

output from my terminal and the commands you should run (of course using your systems directory poaths to your pages version):

bash-3.2# cd /Users/prsn/Desktop/control/pages-0.2a52/
bash-3.2# java -jar pages-0.2a52.jar

if you are still not seeing why its not wqorking add a -verbose in the java command like so
java -verbose -jar pages-0.2a52.jar
