Patcher.xyz: modulargrid alternative

Hello lines!
I recently started working on an alternative to modulargrid that will allow saving and exporting patch notes with connection details (down to CV level!!!).

What is patcher.xyz?
This project was born as a way to solve the problem of transcribing and sharing patch notes to keep them or simply to send them to someone.

What can I do?
The first development goals are focused on the possibility of adding modules to your collection and interactively connecting CV inputs and CV outputs in an easy and fast way and then export/save the list of connections. In the future the patches will be saved on the website itself so that they can be shared in the form of a simple link.

But doesn’t this require having a list of all modules and their information?
Yes, however, we are not starting from scratch!
Since one of the objectives is to maintain a database of inputs and outputs of each module, the development team(me) needs the contribution of the community to map all modules’ CVs. This can happen once the project enters the open beta phase.
The website already contains more than 800 modules and 200 manufacturers with basic information such as HP/name/manufacturer.

What can I expect from this project in 6 months?
The long-term goal is to create a Hub in which not only to share and create patches but also to manage your rack and all your modules in a manner similar to modular grid with the advantage of a more modern interface and above all FAST!!! navigation/editing and several other features yet to be announced!

Great! How i can help?
I am currently making the first public announcements and collecting some initial feedback from testers so I would like to know what you think about this idea and if you are interested in the project.

If you want to stay updated on the progress of development the best way is to subscribe to the discord channel that is the central communication hub.

I have some big news, we’re moving to beta now!

At this crucial stage it is incredibly important for us to collect as much feedback as possible.
We would love to hear what you think and what features you would like to see

Try it out now!

ā€œSignup not possible A user with this email address or username may already have been registeredā€

but if I try to change username or when I try to log in

ā€œLogin not possible Invalid email or passwordā€

Sorry for that, little bug

Should work well now, if it doesn’t try CTRL+F5 (or clean your browser cache) and try again

You should see the recent update date in the bottom of the site

WHAT
After a decade of stagnation in this space we are excited to present patcher.xyz: the modern way to manage everything modular.

It’s a tool for professionals, enthusiasts, and casual wigglers.

WHY
Novadays artists must develop their own means of taking notes, often on paper, since there is no common format for sharing ideas. Although there is nothing wrong with that, we believe we have found a better way.

We wanted our patch ideas to be searchable, editable and easily-shareable. We needed an easier way to plan our racks, without creating a mess. We needed to be able to find awesome modules fitting our style and feel, without being lost in the ocean of different options.
We made it a reality.

FUTURE
Patcher.xyz was built to provide a fast and enjoyable experience while bypassing the limitations of current offerings. Our vision is to build a platform to assist you in any part of your wiggling experience: from research, to planning, to buying or trading gear, to sharing your new ideas and music.

Ok guys so I’ve been working on this for almost a year now (yeah I’m used to say ā€˜we’ anyways because of my corporate coding background), after I realized I had no way to share patch-notes with my youtube channel subscribers.
It’s been a lot of work to bring the project to this state, but I think it’s really worth it to give back to the community.

Now please please please go check it out, it’s awesome. It shows stuff in a really cool way. It’s fast. It’s free.
Let me know what you think about it. Future developments will be totally dependent of your feedback.

Thanks for your efforts to create this useful tool! Some desires (based on very quick test):

  • Add modules to a rack from the rack’s page. Had to blindly add them from my collection.
  • Generate a printable version of a patch.
  • Make it harder to accidentally zoom the patch way in or out with scroll wheel when trying to scroll past it.
  • Reduced scrolling needed to create a patch connection.
  • Reduced clicks required overall per action.
  • Reduced white space, increased info density.

Pushed an update reducing overall padding.

I will most probably work on the rest of your points as well

being able to add a module to a rack or collection from the search results page (instead of having to click on the module to go to its specific page) would also make things a lot faster

and yes, having the search & select module on the rack page when viewing your own rack would also make things much easier to use

Yes, I totally agree with you.
It was done like this to speed up development.
I really want to work on that as soon as I have time

Thanks for your feedback!
