I suppose you could theoretically release a generative piece as a miRack file, and let others listen too, and interact with it, as I think everyone should have the same modules available. You could also have a generative chain patch, passing the patch from person to person, or an n-module patch challenge, by releasing a miRack template.

How would I unzip this on my iPad? I liked on it and nothing happened!

I’ve been sharing with my primary collaborator via email and google drive…

Tap on it while using the Files app and it should unzip.

I seeing it on lines, how do I get it into the files app to start with?

Thanks!

I’m using iPadOS (the latest OS version) and if I tap on the link in safari, it appears in the download manager, and then once downloaded, I can see the zip file in Files.

I’m on 12.4.1, which is one version older.

It’s possible that Safari didn’t know what to do with zip files yet in that version. :frowning:

I’m updating the iOS but it says 4 hours remaining!!!

Both those ideas are super-cool. Like the way people share SuperCollider code, among other examples.

FWIW you don’t need to be on the latest iOS. In Chrome, just tap the file and you’ll be prompted at the bottom of the screen to Download then Open In once download is complete. Click Open In and select save to Files and save to MiRack folder. Open Files, navigate to zip file and click to unzip. Open miRack and voila.

Edit: and since it’s Files, you can do this step on any iOS or OS X device.

Oh, cool. That didn’t happen in Firefox on the iPad. At least not in my fumbly hands. I’ll try in Chrome. I love the idea of sharing these patches. I imagine at some point miRack with have in-app purchases for modules, but for the time being everyone has the same modules. Utopia!

Yeah the patch sharing is an amazing learning tool. Downloading VCV patches from patchstorage and studying them was basically how I learned Modular. These are amazing times we live in with amazing tools!

installing Chrome on my iPad. I didn’t even know there WAS a Chrome for iPad!

I think it worked, there was a zip file called something like Zooshighty, and it contained a MiRack patch called Patch.

I got it to open, but it’s only called Patch, which is pretty generic

I’m going to try uploading one of mine, called EEE SUBTLE PINGS

EEE SUBTLE PINGS.mrk (81.9 KB)

Here’s a simple template for Mutable modules

MI template.zip (90.8 KB)

Is there any benefit to uploading zips as opposed to just .mrk files? It’s feeling like the zipping process is adding possibly unnecessary steps…

That worked great! How were you able to attach a miRack file in a lines reply? When I try that it doesn’t work and I have to zip it.

In MiRack, I long pressed the file Zico, and hit share. I emailed it to myself and downloaded it from the email to my downloads folder. From there, I just uploaded it to lines…

Glad it worked, I love that patch, very much what I am hoping to make more of…

When you unzip it should just create a xxx.mrk file. A .mrk file itself contains an image file, a .plist file and a patch.vcv file. Seems like you broke it down into its components or unzipped the .mrk file itself, which would reveal the patch file.

Not sure…

Did the patch open for you?

I did see the other files in the zip but only the patch file opened in MiRack if I’m understanding it correctly…
