@gexex I agree WTF. Sundays are so bad for me also.

Wallpaper Music Vol 3. The third and final Wallpaper Music will take place April 6 @ Forest & Main in Ambler PA in our New Space. Join Chaka Benson, Huron, King Kroba, and MISSINGNO for a mildly psychedelic night of modular ambience, new age saxophone solos, and intergalactic lounge records. Oh, and amazing beer!

Hello all! I’m an student at Millersville University for music tech currently and just got into modular synths. Im gonna be back home in the Philly suburbs for the summer and was wondering if anyone would wanna meet up for some cross patching (I’ve got a reallyyy tiny barebones setup still) or if there were any synth meets coming up for the next few months?

Hello @12Past12 I think BridgeSet Sound on South Street hosts monthly synth meet-ups on the first Tuesday of the month. However, I don’t know of any other synth meet-ups but I wouldn’t surprised if there were - @YEVGENIY, @sandysynth, or @kaba do you know of anything?

Are people from New Jersey welcome? Would love to participate! No MOTS here :pensive:

I’m planning to register my porch for West Philly Porchfest. I played last year and enjoyed it (even if the crowd was sparse and transient).

If anyone is interested in playing a thirty minute porch set on Saturday, June 8, send me PM. I believe my block opens up for performances around 3:30 or 4. I can probably accommodate three performers at ~30 minutes.

If anyone is attending West Philly Porchfest, feel free to stop by - I am listed under the name Psordid.

For some reason, they unilaterally scheduled me from 5 - 6, but I’ll be starting closer to 4:30 and going until the set feels finished. No warranties of listenability!

Hello Philly folks! Just saw this on Facebook – has anyone been to one of these Synth Nights? Are they worth going to?

It doesn’t seem like there’s a big synth/electronic music community in Philly but maybe I just haven’t been paying attention to the right things.

I went to one a few years ago and had a great time and met some cool people. Been meaning to go again, but something always comes up. I’ll go to the next one if you do!

The Gatherings concert series has been my favorite semi regular event since moving to the area from Seattle 3 years ago. It’s curated by Chuck Van Zyl who is a talented local musician and also the host of Star’s End on WXPN every Sunday 1am to 5am.

Here’s a video of Chuck performing at the Philly Free Library a few weeks ago.

Definitely need to get out and play more in the philly area next year, just haven’t quite been sure where to look or who to contact for places to play

Why oh why on a Tuesday night. I was aware of the events at BridgeSet Sound, but have never gone. I may try to make it to this for the first hour (depending on how draining the work day is).

There are occasional MOTS events in Philly. I’ve only been to one (about two years ago in Clark Park). It was small, but fun.

Synth night is a cool place to hang out with fellow gear nerds and try stuff out, kinda like an internet forum come to life. Sometimes there are explicit performances/demos but mostly it’s an open jam format.

There’s definitely a lot of electronic music going on around town, even if it’s not explicitly synth-based. All the Musica Practica events I’ve been to that @YEVGENIY has posted throughout the thread are always super solid, definitely follow them on facebook/sign up for their email list. Chuck Van Zyl has the ambient/Kosmische contingent locked down as @Struggle has mentioned. I just played the last Gatherings concert of the season this past weekend and it was great to hear these types of soundscapes in such a reverberant and beautiful place (St. Mary’s church). Forgot to post about it here, I’m bad with promotion

Bowerbird is another organization to follow; they generally put on concerts focused around 20th century avant-garde compositions, but not exclusively. Some of these are electronic and some are not. & there’s a whole noise/deconstructed dance music thing happening in warehouse / diy spaces all over the city which I have only brushed up against here and there… LXV, Ulla Straus + Pontiac Streator are the artists I know to follow to learn more about these spaces.

@kbit, wish I could have been there last weekend. Took my son to anime convention in NYC.

Saw some pictures of you guys at sound check and hope to hear some recordings!

Here’s a cool oral history about ambient/electronic music in the Philly area. Thought some might find it interesting…

There’s going to be another synthesizer meetup (or synthesizer jawn? I still don’t quite know how to use that word) on Saturday, Feb. 1:
