My studio, my bat-cave as I call it
A new setup I arranged just yesterday.
A Nagra is always present - on the left, beside some objects, things I found here and there and a couple of Uši Pro by LOM.
At the center: monome devices which are totally independent from the rest, there’s a small Rolls mixer to put four different stereo inputs to Norns, one of them is a pair of microUši Pro by LOM through a AudioRoot FEMTO. Another one is a Fiio X1. Everything is self powered with its own batteries or 9v batteries or doesn’t need batteries.
On the right the GR-1 by Tasty Chips + a Roli seaboard block, some walkman, cassettes, some effects and a boar skull (found in the woods).

How are you liking the GR1? I must admit it’s one of the rare hardware synth I’m interested in, does it deliver? I really like the idea of hands on control (faders too!) for a granular synth and the layout seems nicely thought out.

Is the FEMTO any good? Hadn’t heard of it til now, but I like the look of it.

I loooove it. A bit expensive but super well made, the preamp sound is super clear also at really high gain. It works with a couple of 9v batteries + the client service and the connection with the brand is perfect - at the end it’s something handcrafted really well made.

I really love it Louis, I was in the first bunch of people had it since I joined the kickstarter’ campaign from the beginning. I really love it - I mean - it’s super intuitive and the huge screen (beside it’s soooo beauty) it’s really super useful, showing in real time everything happens.
You can also control it via midi (Din 5pin and USB) and has also a couple of CV you can assign to modulate several parameters (beside its 2 LFO to assign to almost everything you want). It has an input via USB and the last upgrades implemented a lot its functions.
It’s great, and not only with synthetic sounds or that kind of samples, it’s great with concrete and layered sounds too - that for me was indispensable.

So far I’m finding that being between Maths and LxD leaves enough room that I don’t feel too cramped playing with W/. In this patch I have one of them patched as a delay. I’m thinking of feeding the other one some kind of sample of dialogue or environment noise to give something else to listen for.

I think W/ and Teletype are the two modules in my case that I sometimes still feel almost guilty for not using “to their fullest,” just because they’re deep enough that I haven’t taken the time to fully explore them. I’ve been working on just using them however I can, since the depth will reveal itself with time.

Installed the Dub Jr this morning, and with that this little dude is complete! Every time I sit down with it I’m surprised at just how much complexity I can get out of such a small system. And the whole morphing/blending focus with Frames and the Steiner filter/triple VCA is working out wonderfully.

Only thing I might change at this point is replacing the Att-Vert and Comparator tiles with a couple Attenuator/Offset tiles so I can create turn the outputs of the Miasma bipolar when needed.
