Thanks! The actuator holds a short length of music wire and the motor holds a few strands of snare wire. I just recorded a video showing the actuator mods and some play.

Another one from last night. This time the Organelle was a looper (Overloop), processor (reverb), and generator (gendy + rngs) – all in Orac 2.0. The small DOD mixers allow me to set different levels for Tetrax’s attack/release signal, use the individual oscillators’ outputs, and add a contact microphone to boot  All in all, it’s quite a powerful setup.

a real loss for the DIY community when he passed… his enthusiasm and generosity were exemplary.

Very cool sounds! Thanks a lot for sharing this and showing us how you made it!

In the meantime, I’ve posted a bit more about the oil can reverb in the Transducers / Exciter Speaker in case you want to hear some recordings of how it sounds.

Absolutely. Sorry to see that his website is now offline. I wonder if it is archived anywhere?
(I shouldn’t take this thread off-topic - I guess there are DIY threads where this could be picked up.)

still there, i think: http://musicfromouterspace.com/

Ah, great. Looks like the domain expired and they’ve just renewed it.

I’m going bananas over here

I have super good memories of playing (and watching other people play) the SH101 in recording studios where it was an option, it made for crazy synth tracks (sadly I think I was a little all over place musically during that time and most of my tracks from back then with SH101 on it suck overall).

Me too , I have memories of the late 80’s when we would go round to a friends house in school lunchbreak , smoke weed and just listen to the SH101 noise generator.

There’s such a thing as too many Dreadbox devices (and too many sequencers, for that matter), right? They seem to be taking most of the rack space so far, at least - good thing the Disting Mk IV is so slim.

Oh ok so it’s SH day officially now?

Well, if it’s officially SH-day today, then this is my oldest synth, both in age and in terms of how long it’s been around (alongside the Juno-60 and DX-7) - the Keystep does have nicer keys and a sequencer, though, both of which are handy:

What surprises me is how small the shared system seems to be next to it.

I was actually surprised when the SH-2 arrived today how small it is! An impressive form factor for something made in 1978.
