Haha what a nice coincidence. I just started another thread about mininalist and compact 16 fader boxes like the pocket fader

Shot from a show I played this past Friday. I’m in the middle manipulating the Eurorack…

It was a jam format show. 20-something performers in 3s or 4s, with one performer swapping out for another every 30 minutes. It didn’t go as well as my other show a couple of weeks ago. I wasn’t very prepared due to my apartment building being broken into the weekend prior and me dealing with the fallout of that the whole weekend instead of practicing… and also a series of technical difficulties and poor monitoring during the show itself. Coupled with the fact that I’d never played with any of the performers before, it was a bit of a mess. I still had fun, I guess…

how you liking the VC?

I’m enjoying lzx’s new approach to module design. Having multiple functions in one unit simplifies patching and allows one to get into the process quicker. This case is a sidecar to my main lzx rig. But I love the fact that I can get interesting results straight from this case, then mix it with the main case to add complex visual layering. Really looking forward to the lzx releases this year.

now that most of the issues are out of the way, i made this first modular song with this:

Saturday Jam Session

Lovely little setup and track! Didn’t realize ebows worked with acoustic instruments as well. Hm.

thank you! the ebow works on pretty much anything with metal strings. note: since the tension of these harp strings is much greater than that of guitar strings, the ebow won’t work well, or at all, on notes higher than the middle string. the ebow is very quiet and takes awhile to fade in at that point, since it’s designed to excite comparatively looser guitar strings.

if it’s got metal strings, it’s a goer.

didn’t realize the ND had trig inputs. Dang that looks like a fun “little” setup.

So, I got me an Isms. Taking the plunge into Eurorack. Really loving the monome and mannequin modules.

Though, I can already tell I need more attenuverters. Very useful to modify patches as they go.

Recorded Week 20 of my weeklybeats project with the patch connected. Can be listened to at http://weeklybeats.com/#/eleventhstage/music/beckoning if anyone is interested.

yes! i almost brought up the wond in my caveats to using an ebow. the wond seems actually designed for expressiveness, and playability on nonstandard strings, or even nonstring surfaces–i think i saw it used on a metallophone of some kind. and as you said, it doesn’t sit crookedly on spaces that differ from guitar strings. it’s more than twice as expensive as an ebow, though…assuming it can be found at all. i think only the kickstarter backers have it.

That is cool as shit. Signed up for the newsletter to find out when the next run is.

I don’t use my ebow(s?) very much, but I have a Fernandez sustainer built into my main electric and find it useful in that kind of setup/configuration. The moog guitar is definitely a great extension of that idea.

I’ve nearly outgrown my 3U84 eurorack, so have broken ground on its replacement: a 7U84, using the original skiff’s Vector rails for some 1U utilities, and four secondhand z-rails from a friendly lines-ite as the primary racks.

From CAD:

to my dining table:

and though I designed it as a swoopy tabletop case, I made sure it’d balance vertically too:

The 1U rails are currently in use and thus yet to be added.

Won’t have time to populate it and finish the fit-out til after this project is done, but I’m pretty pleased with the conceit.

(of course, it means I also now have CAD files for Vector and Z-Rails should anybody need them).

Wonderful! What is the Mixing Link playing for a role?
