For a little context, I actually took this picture totally inspired by the thought that I was starting to see connections in all the things I love. Been going down something of a music theory rabbit hole lately which started because of a geometric drawing John coltrane made. I’ve also been trying to get my eurorack to make weird saxophone tones hugely inspired by spiritual jazz. All of which i came upon through sampling hence the SP-303.

I would love to hear these experiments as well!

Some of the recordings I’ve made recently really felt like some of the more recent jazz obsessions have been woven into ‘my sound’ in a weird and personally exciting way. It’s super cool feeling like there’s some cross-pollination between zones.

Oh my gosh—these boxes are amazing. Photo of my tax refund, and mental health expenses for July.

I love the plain skin on the SP. Is that just a simple color choice on Style Flip?

Yup yup!! Also been thinking of scanning images from this book, making custom stickers, and covering my octatrack with them. Why do I care so much about these things !?!?!!

Another fake gameboy arrived, this one with a headphone out socket mod and a flashcart containing LSDJ

That looks like a lot of fun for making instant dubplates for onward mangling.

Yes I have been thinking along these lines too…its mono and I wonder how good the bass is for beats…or would it do better with drones, speech, loops? How are the usual clicks and pops of vinyl with it? By quality I don’t mean is it hifi?

I put this minimal setup into the home office a few weeks ago. Sinking into phased loops through Thyme is a wonderful way to wrap up the day.

Here’s a sample from the other night, with accompaniment at the end from the crickets outside the office window.

Zedkah is correct, it is a Gakken Easy Record Maker. If you are in the US TTL sells em; https://www.turntablelab.com/products/gakken-easy-record-maker-toy-instant-record-cutting-no-returns-please-read-terms-before-purchase. Assembly is quite easy.

It cuts lathes, so if you are familiar with the quality of lathe cut records, you’ll know what you are dealing with. It’s got a bit of hi frequency hiss, but sounds like an old record. Currently using it to record my songs, resample and play through the fates/shields. It comes with 10 or so records, but you can cut on any sort of plastic/plexi material- I’ve chosen CDs!

I’m quite happy exploring this plateau in my system. The core of the system (Springray, Fumana, Falistri, & Sapal) tends to stay put while a few things rotate depending on the project. I find myself thinking about them as two adjacent systems, a modular modular sort of arrangement.

That mostly frap tools case is looking great. I have a Falistri and love the thing, been thinking of picking up the Sapel to go with it - how are you liking yours?
