Spent today on a video shoot for Cats On Synthesizers In Space… there was a 128 monome involved! the little guy went crazy for Corners.

@markeats This was 2 years ago and she rocks your sequencer

She’s added an sp1200 to her liking too

I have a Midi Fighter Twister and it is quite nice. Pretty simple design (even though it’s not quite the minimal aesthetic I typically enjoy), solid, and readily configurable with it’s own mapping app. 16 endless encoders with led rings, multiple modes, and multiple pages. Even has a built in sequencer! I like it quite a bit.

I’ve developed a sequencer inspired by the René eurorack module for this and grid. Quite nice but mine came with one of the side buttons defected, and i find the software weird and buggy.
Once you try programming deep stuff it reveals its weaknesses : Ch 8 IN is for leds and cannot be changed, you can accidentally trigger a “rainbow” mode, etc.
But all in all, it’s a great little thing.

Good to know… Was thinking about doing something like that myself…

How do the encoders feel? Are they stepped (as in detended)? Is the precision good?

Might be one to watch out getting second hand.

What do you mean by stepped ? It’s midi so 128 values. If you mean mechanically stepped, they are not. No click-click-click.
They are very precise according to me, and you can chose between two sensitivities. You can also enable ‘super knob’ mode so they trigger a secondary message in the end of the course.

Yes I meant click-click

Thanks!

(the reason I was asking is, they kinda look like some NI encoders which do have the click-clickyness)

some of my music making stuff (and the front / back cover of “Public Works”, a CD of excerpts from live performances that i just put up on bandcamp)

Those are some beautiful pics!

What’s your photography setup for something like that (lighting specifically)?

Thanks!
It was just a camera and a flash.
Nothing fancy.

Right, well well done then!

The tape player one almost looks like a digital recreation/painting (in a good way).

Thanks. I just got a used Sony A7. Super impressed with the picture quality!

We (my partner and I) use a hacked Panasonic GH-2 for all of our videos, but for the life of us, we can’t seem to take good photos with it. I don’t know if the lenses we have are just better for moving pictures or something, but we use an iPhone for our pictures, and our GH-2 for video.

A bit messy and missing a few pieces. Should have it finished by the end of the year.
