.

what exactly are you tweaking on the AHD?

One of the oscillators was always just barely below the frequency I wanted it at, but since I was dusting things off, I figured I might as well just tweak it. Since I didn’t want to desolder anything, I just ran a second resistor in parallel with one of the ones that defines the middle oscillator.

Quick/dirty/effective.

how are the tuning forks and hard drive implemented in the piece? What do they do?

The idea/piece has changed a ton since this original sketch, but this the general sound world:

The piece itself its a complex set of behaviors/interactions that the hard drive interrupts, although it’s for four performers and I played it solo.

Aquired a Pelican case for my Isms, cut the foam with an electric carving knife and glued the layers together. As you can tell by the not-so-straight lines, I do suck with electric carving knife. But hey, I used the case already and it works.

The rightmost compartment hold both the TT keyboard and the Grid, and their have different proportions are the reason for the little edge in the upper right corner of this compartment.

And here’s my playground’s current state:

Used Lego Technic to build stands for Akai LPK25, Korg nanoControl and Flame Clockwork. Flame Clockwork is used to sync ES, WW, MP and TT to OT’s MIDI clock. In case you care about the Isms’s module configuration: ES, WW, MP, TT, Intellijel Quadra, Make Noise Function, Intellijel Dixie II & Triatt, Noise Engineering Loquelic Iteritas, Epoch Modular Twin Peak, Mutable Instruments Rings & Braids.

ok, here is couple more:
one where I just move the scanner to a different place on the case, hence the vertical slices. And the other where I just put the grid on the scanner bed and was surprised by the artifacts produced by the various LED patterns. About 2/3 in I switched from Meadowphysics to White Whale, which registered as a different overall look.
For all of these I recommend zooming in on the files, because details are kind of lovely.
