so nice! Loving the handle on top~ That’s the exact size I’m thinking about going for in my new case, are those the pulplogic brackets?

I made it myself actually!

This rack started out as a DIY project, but I was quickly sidetracked as I fell into the rabbit hole - go figure

This is a perfect size for a travel case! I’m envious.

The Intellijel mini PSU is a good option for that size case if you go with a mounted one. I have one in my slightly wider 7U and it’s been great.

Yep, Pulp Logic hardware. It really is a pleasing size. A little more manageable than if it were a single 84hp row, and the dimensions remind me of the Moog Model 15 which I’ve always loved the look of.

@joshhh That looks like a good one, thanks! Great price, too. Only thing is I might need to expand it with a flying bus depending on how many modules I need but that’s no big deal.

I realized last night it would be cool to take advantage of the vertical space and attach a cable holder in the lid space. Then I could just open it up and get patching wherever I am. I’d just need a way to lock the cables in place for when the case is laid on its back. Though I might just leave it empty since then I could close it while patched up.

that sounds great, Really looking forward to seeing it full!

Your idea to include cables under the lid got me thinking of a secure way to do it. I was thinking that it would be cool to have a system of dummy jacks mounted to the inside so that the cables could be ‘patched’ in for storage.

there could even be multiple ‘rows’ for at different depths to accommodate different cable lengths!

Love the idea, but actually “patching up” the cables would be a task and a half.

Dug out the old 8-track cartridge recorder, been having fun putting cutup tape noise loops thru the eurorack

true, perhaps some of those magnetic knife strips would do the same task but be easier to pack/unpack!

That’s a great idea! I wonder if the pull would be enough to withstand some jostling around during transport.

although if the cables got magnetized, that might be an issue with some circuits?

I think what I’d do is just use a normal, shallow cable hanger and add an elastic strap that stretches across the cables beneath the slots. Seems the simplest option to me, and if I did the magnetic strip I’d only be able to have a single layer of cables.

the best part of that is that it’s the eurorack version of the wine kit / portable bar with all of the implements stored and organized inside

LOL you’re totally right! I bet I could use the original button straps that I cut out of it actually, if they aren’t too short after the surgery.

No need to worry about this because of science

I actually had a very specific scenario, where magnetized components did become problem… so not entirely irrelevant.

But also:  Science.

Aww been looking for a nice 424 like that for some time.

Yeah they are great, hope you manage to find one! Mine needs servicing, it’s developing an annoying squeak somewhere in the tape mechanism. Will try and fix soon. I resoldered some cracked joints in some of the pots a while back, such a pain opening it up, you have to take sooo many knobs off.

got a digital 8-track recorder recently too, excited by the possibilities of being able to take the 4 seperate direct tape outs from the 4-track plus the main mix for advanced mastering/mixing ofr 4track tapes
