Very short screws that had to be cut even shorter because the wood sides are so thin. It’s quite sturdy though.

My newly moved to and organizedish corner. I moved from a full desk to a small spot next to my bed to accommodate a new roommate(we lost our office essentially). My wife and I are trying to save more efficiently for a house purchase so ya know. Sacrifices I guess.

Made some changes to the little case because I really wanted Falistri and Just Friends in it.

While I await a new case and some miniature versions of Clouds and Plaits to arrive I’ve gone minimal.

Tape erased ready for a new session. Happy days.

My latest sound making machine is an upcycled industrial clothes line, combined with the bars from an old vibraphone… Next step is to fit a motor (hopefully with CV) so it can rotate, and then rig Polyend robo mallets… But I also need to work out an easy way to move and reorder the bars, to create melodies/patterns etc…

Since seeing the super cool rolling modular table on the Platform (desk) page I’ve kept my eyes peeled for something like that and never came across anything.

BUT

On a more recent trip to IKEA I noticed the RÅSKOG trolley (@Angela has one she uses for art supplies), I realized that it could probably work pretty well for modular stuff. Particularly since they sell these wooden insert things you can add to the levels to make them more table-like.

So I bought one!

It worked pretty well, but I decided I wanted to have it be at an angle, and after looking up a few options, I decided on printing out this 7U stand from thingiverse. It worked ok, but was too tall, and was kind of teetering around.

After messing around a bit, I realized that my modular fit perfectly inside the RÅSKOG. So after some testing and experimenting, I came up with this:

I printed out some cable holders and attached them to the sides.

This is what the inside looks like:

I set it up so the outer parts are low enough so I can put a lid on top and it still works, and the central/back bit is zip tied down loosely, so I can tip it over if I want to use the surface flat. In order for the angle to work right I had to saw some material off the “upper” part of the 7U stand (it’s waaaay too big!). I was too lazy to edit the .stl and print out another, particularly since it was like a 10h print.

Hordijk case with a Roland euro case for effects and modulation sources. I feel inordinately lucky.

Nice system! I didn’t know you are into Serge. Did you build the panels? And the case?

Both system and case were built in 1973 by Carter Thomas. used on the title track Sonoma https://www.discogs.com/Carter-Thomas-Sonoma/release/1615185. Some mods (LED’s, programmer link) were added by Kevin in 2011.

Sonoma was a soundtrack to an animation by Sky David (formerly Dennis Pies) i haven’t seen it but his films Ace of Light and Luma Nocturna are major inspirations (widely available on youtube… sadly no anthology so far… nothing for sale)

I’m looking to add another sequencer panel though, hopefully the 73-75 panel when available.

Basically this is the closest i’ve come to being able to do everything in one system including control/sequencing. which was the point I’m tired of midi or the external clock/grid, tired of 1V/oct, tired of getting different systems to sound good together. only thing I still do externally is delay channels with respect to one another (right now just on the computer).

Next steps (beyond the sequencer panel) are probably some OTO boxes so I can forego the computer entirely, also upgrade mixer to a small Audio Developments setup.
