Here is the instrument I put together for the Frequency Freaks meetup here in Toronto last saturday:
and patched ready to make noise:
Everything about this video is amazing, but I’m particularly curious how you’re handling the video sequencing. Is it some kind of CV to MIDI to video cue setup?
That’s exactly what it is
CV to MIDI is handled by Squarp Pyramid and it works okayish, although notes are not always registered correctly but that’s probably more on the TSNM side of this particular patch (something about the thresholds to distinguish between notes from analog to digital), but triggers are perfect! The Pyramid is connected to https://www.tubechopper.com and is in fact controlling a YouTube timeline. You can read more about it in this thread https://llllllll.co/t/tubechopper-youtube-slicing-web-app. This is my own project and I just started development so all feedback, feature requests, testing and example use cases are more than welcome!
Stoked with this new arrival, I’m really ready to do some simplistic workflow, one machine pieces of music.
Ah, that’s a great call. I always think of it as a bit of an unsung hero - especially in a time when so many people laud lofi samplers, yet inexplicably tend to overlook this.

Nice! Now you gotta post some sounds/video clips
You asked for it!
Yes, it’s comparable to a sp-303/sp-404, but it has more extensive sequencing, resampling and sampling rate possibilities. Down to 8 bit.
It’s probably less popular because it’s from Zoom an because it’s a big grey blob of plastic.
Yes, I’m sure you’re right on that - Zoom doesn’t have the pedigree or the cool factor, perhaps, but it’s such a great unit. I’m slightly jealous!

After some great help from @csboling in the Ansible 1.6 thread I’ve gotten my BopPad speaking directly with my modular via the ansible. Super handy, and not something I considered at all before!
I’ve set that up, along with some crossfader+snare action:
I brought my modular to work, I need an easy way to switch my headphones between it and the PC now. I might bring a small mixer for that…
Nice! And welcome! I just got myself a Grandmother in the mail (that’s a sentence I never thought I would write). Love at first patch. But I think it’s quite a head spin breaking the signal flow coming from an all eurorack setup, but I guess I’ll manage to deal with it. Only one hour in with this beast. Got any tips and tricks?
Seems like a fun partner for your school piano. Excited to hear what you do with it.
Hi @bjarlstedt That looks like such a fun setup! My Grandmother is a bit older than my rack, so I came at things the other way around. My biggest advice is to get some long cables and integrate her into your system. The sequencer and arp are really fun to drive modules with, and the extra LFO and utilities come in handy. I also just find it fun to play my modular with real keys once in a while.
