Oh man, that looks fun- two phonogenes!

Super fun! This is my solution to feeling the CL cocoquantus pulling me toward it. Very fun to find polyrhythms with the two genes.

Yeah sure thing they are here, here, and here. Don’t have and haven’t purchased the nlc sloths in one of the skiffs. Waiting on the dunst.

always been curious about those IFM modules- general thoughts?

Yeah I had also been curious—entranced even—by the Ciat Lonbarde stuff, but couldn’t rationalize buying anything from there if I didn’t sell most of my eurorack. So I figured I’d try the IFM stuff and forget (haha) about the CL gear. I’ve only just received what I have, and haven’t had a ton of time to really deep dive. They’re really interesting… The voltage manipulation you can do is really odd, and my impression so far is that you have to work really hard patching and attenuating to find a sweet spot. The texture of the sounds produced by Fourses is really special in my opinion, but again, can easily become chaos. The whole system feels crackly, noisey, hissy, sudden, distant, and grindy. So far I’m liking results where I vca the audio from the IFM setup using slow modulated lfos and envelopes. Can kind of achieve something there.

About 8 months later, still been intensely focused on ‘just’ using this. It’s been really fun gradually diving deeper and deeper after 8 years or so of working with it in various capacities.

Not sure what’s next, but maybe I’ll dip my toes back into the modular world since the case has been collecting dust for this whole time basically. Eyeballing the Matriarch as I develop some guitar ideas. Might be a nice resource for accompaniment.

Well, ok. I don’t know about any of the decisions that lead to keeping things mono at this point. But I do know that I’m happy using those pedals. Also, there are several percs to having dual mono fx. Like panning things differently and most importantly having different setting on both channels.

But I’m really not trying to win an argument here or something. I simply use the things that are available. And as there is no stereo Warped Vinyl MK2, I use two mono pedals. To me, it’s the most beautiful sounding effect I ever used.

I posted some pics of my modular on the modular thread, and my matrix mixers on the matrix mixer thread, so here are pics of the rest of my current devices on the sound making machines thread. I like synths the way zombie boy likes turtles. The setup is maximal, but the beauty of modular is that you can use as much or as little as you like. I’m happy to answer any questions…

I think the Vermona Perfourmer MkII might be one of the prettiest pieces of musical equipment I’ve ever purchased. I just got it and can’t stop admiring its looks.

The synth I regret selling the most. It just sounds so good.

My favorite instrument! Sounds as good as it looks. Been sequencing it with Ansible and Grid lately. So fun!

nurture it and give it your love and support and one day it will become something you are proud of, and hopefully a comfort in your old age.

apologies if this is in the mech keyboard thread and I missed it… what’s the one connected to teletype there?

It’s almost on every song here : https://dwightmusic.bandcamp.com/album/escape-point and here : https://mowukis.bandcamp.com/album/no-answers-no

I’d say 70% of the synth sounds in general are the Vermona Perfourmer on both releases, 90% of the basslines (at the exception of a Doepfer dark energy II and an MS20 at some point if I remember well) etc.

It’s a Magicforce 68, with black Outemu switches. It works really well and is quite inexpensive. Only the versions with Outemu switches do not have backlighting, which is important with Teletypes that are not from the latest batch (another similar compact keyboard with backlighting made my TT crash).

How is your routing set up on this?
