I made this quite a few years ago - my first DIY synthesizer, from a Ray Wilson design.
Just took it down off the shelf yesterday for the first time in a long time and spent some time exploring it. I realise now how little I understood about its workings when I made it.
It’s a great noise machine - I really like the (limited) level of complexity available in it… quite simple but bold modulation options which give slightly unpredictable results

Looks great! Any samples of it in action?

How do you like the Onde Mag? I was bummed I missed out on this year’s batch.

I literally just got mine. I lucked out and got it on Reverb. So far, I think it’s great. Some tuning issues, but that could just be shoddy batteries, or part of it’s charm. Mostly it’s when you play a high note and then a low note, as the cassette player has to adjust speeds quickly. It certainly has a nice quality to it’s sound!

Nice build. It’s got an EMS vibe.

This is a crazy powerful mini combo. 3.5mm cable between for MIDI and additional CV from oplab module. Route into iPad for fx and recording and it all fits in a tiny bag.

Working on a two-night live set. I love and hate this moment of chaos where I have tons of random bits and pieces that await to fall into place.

Out of curiosity what role is the Tascam playing? Mixing only? Or also playing back tape at all?

Also playback. I prepared three 15-minute sound back drops of four tracks. Will play them through EQ, pitch control and Polymoon.

Still learning my way around this little setup, establishing what I want to do with it and working out what modules should accompany the core pair of Nebulae and Chronoblob.

The key joy of this lot is that I can power it all by battery.

Could you tell me what this app is? Feel like I keep seeing it on iPad screens and been curious. I’ve only used a iPad w/Auria for recording purposes and would like to broaden my horizons. Thanks!

It’s called 20 chars of “AUM”

it’s a mixer, a little like ableton session view (audio and midi together)

been practicing midi automation plug-ins controlling synth and other plug-in parameters, and just recording the stereo mix (manual fade out at the end)

Thank you for the info and video link! I will definitely be experimenting with this in the future.

It’s a Warm Audio WA-47 tube mic - essentially a modern clone of the Neumann U47 with quality parts and a reasonable price. I’m not a huge mic aficionado, but I’ve tried a couple and this one has been the most fun and sweet sounding yet.
